Day 13: 4/10 Today was a rest day from training. The Self-Improvement Movemetn Community talked about what it meant to have a positive relationship with money today. What it was like growing up. How it’s changed. How our beliefs have been holding us back. What we want it to look like. I find it crazy how we spend our whole lives thinking about money. We spend our 9 to 5’s in pursuit of it. Wish we had more of it. But we don’t have many money conversations. We don’t talk about why it matters. What we think about it. How we feel about it. How we view it. When we don’t have a relationship with money, Or worse, When have a bad relationship with money, How can we ever expect to be happy? Money conversations are interesting. The psychology of money isn’t talked about enough. One of the best resources I’ve read on money is The Almanack of Naval Ravkiant. You can find it for free at navalmanack.com Hope you find it interesting.

I really enjoyed working to put together this TNSR roundtable review of Mara Karlin's book "The Inheritance: America's Military After Two Decades of War." I started my career one year before 9/11, and the wars that came after that have shaped my life and work, as they have for so many other people as well. We need more quality analysis on what happened and what we can learn, and this roundtable is one part of that. https://lnkd.in/gphNQZ4K

I am sitting this morning in reflection after rereading All Secure by Tom Satterly. It is very powerful book of service, sacrifice, and what comes after. At the end of the book, in his remarks to Congress, Tom makes an extremely personal and communal statement when he says, "Please hear me when I say to you that we are not done. We want more than to come home; we want to heal. We want to rebuild our lives, our relationships and offer the leadership we've shouldered over the years to the homes and communities we live in now." This resonates so intensely with me and I am sure other Veterans as well. Our purpose shifts and transforms. It becomes, as if it were a flower, in full bloom when we leave the military. Tom continues, "You may wonder, depending on your personal experiences, why there is such difficulty in walking away from what was, and making a new life with what is. Why is it not a simple thing to retire from service and just pick up the threads of the life we left behind." His words capture a sentiment that is held by so many and perhaps misunderstood by the masses. Regardless, we want to move on and we want to be a part of something bigger than ourselves, yet again. If you are a Veteran and have not read Tom's book, I encourage you to. If you do, you will come away changed, and maybe you will understand that it starts with you when you leave the military, but there are so many out here who are willing to help with this transition. As Veteran's Day approaches, please remember all the resources out there that exist to help those who have served. All Secure Foundation

Roy Rogers said, "The greatest legacy we can leave our children is happy memories." Absolutely! But those cherished memories are best built on a foundation of security. For veterans and active military personnel, that security comes through thoughtful estate planning, including the potential benefits of a trust. Deployment and service can bring periods of uncertainty. A well-crafted trust can provide peace of mind knowing your family's financial needs are met, even if you're away or incapacitated. Here's how a trust can benefit you and your loved ones: Streamlined Distribution: Bypassing the lengthy and costly probate process, a trust allows for a smoother and more efficient distribution of your assets to your loved ones. This translates to quicker access to the financial resources they need during a difficult time. Tax-Saving Strategies: Depending on the type of trust you choose, you may be able to minimize estate taxes, preserving more of your wealth for future generations to enjoy. Peace of Mind: Knowing your loved ones have the financial resources they need, even during your absence or a period of incapacity, allows you to focus on serving your country and creating those cherished memories with your family. Don't let the challenges of deployment or future uncertainties overshadow the happy memories you create with your family. Schedule a consultation with us today to discuss incorporating a trust into your estate plan. We're dedicated to helping you build a secure foundation for a lifetime of happy memories. #veteranlegacy #militaryfamily #financialplanning #estateplanning #trusts

Great Battles for Boys Great Battles for Boys sends young readers "into the fight." From weapons, strategies, and military leaders to bayonets, bullets, and bombers, boys discover what really happened in these historic conflicts. In this volume, the story begins with Hitler's rise to power in 1930s Germany and his devastating invasion of Poland which launched World War II. The battles continue from there, proceeding through Europe and North Africa, culminating in the Normandy invasion, the Battle of the Bulge, and Victory in Europe. Some little-know yet fascinating battles are also included, such as Finland's Winter War, when a tiny tribe of men defeated Stalin's massive Red Army. With historic photographs, maps, and short, powerful chapters, "Great Battles for Boys" shows how these historic conflicts shaped the world, and why "Freedom isn't free." "I strongly recommend this book, particularly to young readers who aren't provided this kind of insight in standard texts." -- Randolph Carter Harrison, retired officer Army Special Forces, and former head of media relations, The Boeing Company. #BookRecommendation #GoodReads #Books #ReadingList #BookCommunity #BookLovers #Bookworm #NowReading #BookClub #Inspiration #Motivation #GrowthMindset #LifelongLearning #ThoughtProvoking #MustRead #BookOfTheDay #WeekendReads #PageTurner #TopPicks https://lnkd.in/g8yC4GH6
