Watch as one of our co-founders Sandy AbdelRahman explains what the Noria Collective is all about during our latest workshop! The name of the collective is the word for waterwheel in many languages, including Catalan and Spanish, which comes from the Arabic word naura. Linking the co-founders’ Latin American and Arab ancestries. A noria is a machine that transforms the energy of water into useful forms of power. The energy of the water turns the wheel, and in turn, this energy is transformed into a useful outcome through the strength of the interaction of the wheel and nature. At Noria Collective, we harness the strengths of individuals and organisations in society to empower underrepresented communities.

May 21st, 2002 In response to the unilateral standardization of culture and commercialization by large capital cultures facing humanity worldwide.  It is an international anniversary established by the United Nations to ease conflicts and confrontations between peoples and capital on the premise of mutual respect through dialogue and compromise. In May, to mark World Day for Cultural Diversity Dialogue and Development, why don't we learn about  'The gaze of the Other  : Documentary heritage of the Salesian apostolic Vicariate in the Ecuadorian Amazon, 1890-1930 ' and discuss the meaning of this Memory of the World.

🗺️ Ubuntu Leaders Academy Joins the Africa-Europe Foundation to Commemorate the 79th Edition of the UN General Assembly. 🥰 Ubuntu youth shared their testimonies regarding the Declaration for Future Generations, a pivotal document aimed at protecting the rights and interests of future generations. 📜 The Declaration for Future Generations, connected to the UN's Summit of the Future, seeks to ensure that the needs, rights, and interests of future generations are taken into account in today’s global political decisions. It recognizes that the challenges and opportunities of the future will be shaped by our actions today, striving to ensure that these actions are both sustainable and equitable in the long term.

🗣️ We went to the opening of Spheres of Influence, a conference in Uzbekistan about the growing geopolitical competition between three global players for influence in the Balkans, the Caucasus and Central Asia. Honored to be invited by American Medical Women's Association (AMWA) Operation Smile Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières - USA to attend the offshoot UN General Assembly session “Anti-Microbial Resistance: An Ongoing Public Health Challenge”. Lessons learned: 1) New app that can read a photo of a bacterial culture plate and suggest antibiotic treatment. 2) #periodpoverty where families need to choose between buying food or menstrual products: high risk for infection. Very interesting and important work.

The contribution of the ACCI to the performance of the African press The ACCI works to facilitate the participation of African media in international events which focus on competitive intelligence and communication. This includes the Festival de l’intelligence économique francophone – FIEF (Francophone competitive intelligence festival) and the African Competitive Intelligence Day (JAIE), which are held annually. In 2020 it was hard to imagine the US having a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam, a special status only afforded to China, Russia, and India at the time. But this week marked the sixth CSP signed in the past two years, illustrating the importance that diverse international cooperation will play in Vietnam's ambitious development goals for the next two decades and beyond. https://lnkd.in/ej8SQ57s
