Here’s a short story about values based recruitment 👇 A lot of people probably don’t know that I was a Care Assistant for a year in 2017. I was a Deputy Manager for a supermarket before this. Still to this day, being a Care Assistant was the most job satisfaction I’ve ever had. Waking up every day knowing that someone was relying on me to make sure they had the best day possible. Making sure whoever I was caring for was happy, safe, comfortable and had the best day possible. Providing independence for the people I cared for was a real reason to wake up on a morning. When I became the HR and Recruitment Manager for a domiciliary care company in Wakefield, West Yorkshire in 2018, I made it part of my contract that I could provide at least 6 hours of care a week (on top of my 40 hours in the office). Why? 👉 Because I love caring for other people and it brings me the most job satisfaction. This is a photo of me caring for a young man who was unable to walk and has trouble with his muscle development. Every Monday between 11am and 1pm, I would take him swimming to the local pool. We’d laugh. Mainly at my rubbish swimming. He’d wind me up and tell me to get a haircut and stop working in the office so I could care for him more days. I’d listen to him talk about Star Wars and old WWE wrestlers and Wakefield Wildcats rugby It was amazing. This is a photo of my last ever shift and I wanted to cherish it and remember where I started in care. Hopefully the moral here is that we all started somewhere in care and we should remember why we started in the first place. If you’re struggling with recruitment and looking to increase your hires, remember that everyone who applies to work for you has a story. If you can focus on the values and emotions of why people want to work in care, I GUARANTEE you, you’ll win. I hope this helps at least 1 person or company reading this. #carerecruitment #retention #valuesbased recruitment

HR in a t-shirt 👨💻 : On a surface level, Bano Group might look like a very corporate environment. We are a sales-oriented company owned by a private equity firm. But below the surface, we are a very open-minded group of people. In HR, just like in many other corporate roles, there are standards and expectations for how you're supposed to act, what to wear, how you present yourself to the world. The image of the shirt-clad sales rep or the suit-and-tie manager is a common one, and HR workers can often be put in the same camp. However, though my organizational psychology background and HR job would indicate that I'd be in that same mold, that part has never quite fit me. I'm at my most comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt, or a hoodie if it's cold out. And though there is much to be said for dressing up and gaining confidence from that, there's also the side of feeling comfortable and relaxed in a casual look. I don't believe you need a suit and tie to be taken seriously in a work context, and I believe you should be judged for the content of your work rather than your appearance. So HR in a t-shirt has become a bit of a staple for me. Of course there is a personal benefit to this choice of work attire, as it's what I prefer to wear and feel most comfortable in, but I've also thought of a positive side effect when it comes to HR work: Being approachable 👋 . An important part of an HR position is that people feel comfortable talking to you. A suit and tie might be viewed as intimidating, unapproachable, or hard to relate to. And as someone who works in a company with everything from sales reps and project managers to plumbers and tilers, it's important to be approachable and relatable to all parts of the organization. Norway in general is very relaxed around work clothes, so there's definitely a cultural aspect to this as well. But I still count myself lucky to be part of an organization that doesn't care what I wear as long as I do my job. So I'm gonna keep doing #HRinaTshirt

"Lagta hi nahi ki office me hai, aaj bhi lagta hai college me hi h ye.." Till a certain extent it may look as if this is a statement passed to criticize someone. But being an HR what I felt about this was totally opposite. HR job is to : - Come to office - Sit in a cabin with no communication - Be practical every time - No conversations on floor(professionalism I believe) - Being mocked and made fun of - Return home and get prepared for next day.......... Right.?? But why? Why can't an HR be a normal person? Why can't an HR be a friend? Why can't an HR be someone who can listen to the real problems of employee and solve them? What if : - Coming office with a genuine smile and warm greets.! - Sitting in a cabin where some one can come and discuss problem with a confidence of being heard.! - Feeling an employee's voice with concern and care.! - Feel the welcoming smiles on the floor.! - Being understood rather than being mocked.! - Return home with a feeling of great day spent and getting up cheerfully next morning.! I believe this might become a better profession for all the energetic and enthusiastic people who really want to work for the betterment, growth and development of employees and the company. I think HR life matters.!! #HR #hrlife #corporateculture #hrmatters #generaltalks #hrtoday #righttospeak #raiseyourvoice #CEO #boards #proffessionals #employee
