“The Plaque is the great commemorative medium of our time” – Ronald Hutton 🔵 Last week, Nathan Watt and Olivia Corbett-Joyce attended Historic England’s Blue Plaque drinks reception hosted at the incredible Space House. A large group of members enjoyed spectacular sky views whilst hearing about how important these blue plaques are to our heritage. Historic England decided to take the Blue Plaque scheme nationwide to tell the stories of inspirational people throughout history - from all walks of life - who have made a significant contribution to human welfare or happiness. Delancey, along with our platform business The Earls Court Development Company, are so proud to sponsor this scheme. Ronald Hutton, CBE - Professor of History at University of Bristol and blue plaque panel chair delivered a powerful speech reminding us how these plaques connect us to our past, serving as a national pantheon of heroines and heroes. Thank you to Historic England for an incredible evening, we so look forward to the next unveiling in 2026! ✨ #DelanceyRealEstate #HistoricEngland #BluePlaqueScheme

Very interesting article on the influence of Black caddies on the game of golf by my Spatial Research & Design colleague Craig Gill. Definitely worth a read!
Dipped my toes back into my old historical work and wrote about the rich history of skilled Black caddies at this week's U.S. Open venue, Pinehurst, North Carolina. Read it here in TIME's Made by History column: https://lnkd.in/gusDQm6e

Funding should go to those who are entrepreneurial. This is a good example. These are examples of ways we can begin to achieve equity.

This blog post truly reflects our profound learning experience in Montgomery, Alabama. It truly reflected our mission of “Leadership for Just and Humane Schools” at the National Superintendents Roundtable. What a power symposium!
🚨 New Blog Post! 🚨 Reflections from Montgomery, A Superintendent’s Notes I recently had the powerful opportunity to visit Montgomery, Alabama, with fellow superintendents. This experience was not just about learning history—it was about confronting the unfinished legacies of slavery, segregation, and systemic injustice that still shape our nation today. From the Freedom Monument Sculpture Park to the Legacy Museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice, this journey challenged my understanding of America’s past and my role as an educator in shaping its future. Now that I know—what will I do? More importantly, now that “we” know—what will “we” do? For all my Senior friends from NorthJersey.com and the Greater Bergen County Community Actions - NJ program offers up to $15K in home renovations for vulnerable groups Healthy Homes program offers up to $15K in home renovations for vulnerable groups For those who find themselves struggling to afford the necessary home repairs and improvements to keep their environment safe, there's a new program that aims to help. Greater Bergen Community Action has launched its Healthy Homes program, an initiative that aims to remediate environmental hazards in 140 residential units throughout Bergen and Passaic counties. For each, the organization is offering up to $15,000 worth of essential home improvements — to address risks like mold, lead and structural deficiencies — to vulnerable income-eligible populations like seniors age 65 years and older, disabled individuals and families with young children. It is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Program Director Avery Headley said GBCA was one of just 20 organizations nationwide — and one of two in New Jersey — to receive the grant. https://lnkd.in/e2XMrhh7 https://lnkd.in/eVWB_HS4

New Orleans has installed a historic marker under the Claiborne overpass to honor a once-thriving Black business district displaced by Interstate 10 construction. From the 1830s to the 1970s, Claiborne Avenue was a vibrant hub of Black-owned businesses, fostering community and culture until its destruction for highway development. The marker, unveiled with a celebratory second line, serves as a tribute to the area’s entrepreneurial legacy and a reminder of its resilience. https://lnkd.in/gdwv-TfB
