Infosys | The Test Chat | Empowering teams to master their testing capabilities while propelling individuals toward stellar career growth.

The end user doesn't care whether you automated your checks or you tested it "manually". The end user doesn't care whether you used Selenium with Java or Selenium with Python. The end user doesn't care whether you chose Cypress or Playwright. The end user doesn't care whether your project was agile or waterfall The end user doesn't care whether you didn't smoke testing or sanity testing The end user doesn't care whether you used equivalence partitioning or boundary value analysis for designing your tests. How do you find out who is the "user" ? Someone who is acting like a user (in that case - call it as user persona) or a group of people (group of personas). Though the word "user" is common term to include both real and imaginary user, also internal stakeholder claiming to represent the user - this distinction or qualification is important to know

I think, here the word User means the real.business users. The people who are going to use the application. The Persona are presudo users, which BA/testers name it to create the business flow or test cases.

Brijesh- Most of the testers Convert the Requirements into Test cases technically. I always tell my fellow testers to cover the Business scenarios, the day to day transactions. When I worked for Macy's, I used to visit the Macy's store Physically often and look out what's going on in the POS machine, what most of the customers are purchasing, what coupons they are carrying and so on..I believe that's the purest form of testing which Automation can't do.

Very well said. It's so sad to know that people are just focusing on tools rather than actual Testing.

It’s about time this was said, the user is king when it comes to determining what is right and wrong about the product. Another great insight Brijesh DEB

I agree! The important question is whether the software meets the client's requirements. If yes, you have successfully working software; if no, it is worthless to them whether you employ automation or manual testing.

The end users also need the product delivery on time and all these aforementioned items help that to happen. Though not saying that one should focus only on those but one should keep a proper balance with focus at the end-goal.

Love this perspective! 1000% agree with you. At the end of the day, Management just want their problems solved faster than they can say 'bug. 😄 Let's focus on delivering solutions that make them go 'Wow!' instead of 'How?
