In choosing to sit on the Board of Strategic Advocacy for Human Rights (SAHR) almost two years ago, I knew I would be giving my time and energy to supporting human rights defenders on the frontlines of strengthening survivors’ access to justice for sexual and gender-based violence (#SGBV) globally. This stands true as I soon enter my third year, as I have seen this small but mighty team achieve tangible and truly impressive results toward ending #systemicimpunity for SGBV in numerous regions. The same goes for you when you donate to SAHR — you’re standing with these advocates who risk so much to serve survivors and create safer and more just communities. If you’d like to support their work, here are a few ways you can get involved: 1. Please consider donating as part of your #GivingTuesday or holiday giving. As a small organization, every single dollar counts. No amount is too small, and it will be appreciated by many. https://lnkd.in/g7MxTz4p 2. Please visit our website, sign up for our newsletter, and stay connected to become part of our community. https://lnkd.in/gp4gJZKJ 3. SAHR is looking for two new #boardmembers: a #treasurer and a professional experienced in #fundraising and partnership-building. If you or someone you know is interested in putting these skills toward supporting a grassroots organization making a difference, please reach out.

Supporting people with learning disabilities and autistic people to make their voices heard is essential if they are to access the services they need to live independent and fulfilling lives. That's one of the key findings of our research into the impact of advocacy support services with our partners The Henry Smith Charity and Speakup. Advocacy is helping people to speak up, understand their rights, and feel happier about their lives. In #AdvocacyAwarenessWeek, we'd like to highlight the incredible work being done by 15 advocacy services funded by The Henry Smith Charity. Amplify Efforts: Support DeafBlind Leadership and Advocacy #DeafBlindLeadershipNow In a world where injustice and inequality persist, advocacy efforts play a crucial role in driving systemic change and amplifying the voices of those who are often unheard. This is especially true for the DeafBlind community, who face unique challenges and injustices that often go unnoticed. By supporting fundraising initiatives for advocacy, you contribute to a powerful and historic movement that seeks to influence policies, challenge discriminatory practices such as ableism, and promote social justice. A key part of these efforts is ensuring that DeafBlind individuals are represented in leadership roles, where they can directly influence decisions and drive meaningful change. Your contributions will help the DeafBlind community raise awareness, mobilize communities, and address the root causes of inequity. Together, we can create a more just and equitable society, ensuring that every DeafBlind individual has the opportunity to thrive and lead. Join us in this vital mission and make a lasting impact through your support. VD: Morrison, a white nonbinary DeafBlind person signing with the captioning shown on the bottom of the screen. They’re wearing a black zip up hoodie, sitting in front of a black background. VT: Morrison, “Hi everyone. This pertains to DBLN’s fundraising campaign. Funds raised will allow us to continue our advocacy efforts for DeafBlind Leadership Now. This is where we, the DeafBlind community feel that it is time we are placed in leadership positions. Especially when an organization operating for the DeafBlind community where there should be a DeafBlind person running them. What are we fundraising for exactly? First, funds will help cover any legal fees. Second, to help cover operational costs such as the maintenance of the website, DBLN’s Website (https://lnkd.in/gA8SGiCa), and any other operational-related fees. Third, to support logistics for meetings, ensuring access to interpreters, CART, and anything that pertains to meeting logistics. #GivingTuesday is just around the corner, and this year I’m proud to use my voice and my platform to promote Strategic Advocacy for Human Rights (SAHR)—an organization I’ve had the privilege of supporting as a board member for many years. SAHR’s mission is bold: empowering gender justice advocates worldwide to drive meaningful legal and policy changes that hold perpetrators of #genderbasedviolence accountable. It’s a small but mighty team that works tirelessly to stretch every dollar to support our fellows in overcoming challenges many of us can’t even imagine. When you support SAHR, you’re not just donating; you’re standing with the advocates on the ground who are creating safer communities, fighting for #equality, and rewriting what’s possible for survivors of violence. Interested in joining me to support this incredible work? We have multiple ways you can get involved: 1. Please consider donating as part of your Giving Tuesday or holiday giving. As a small organisation, every single dollar counts. https://lnkd.in/eZEs_Trd 2. Please visit our website, sign up for our newsletter, and stay connected to become part of our community. https://lnkd.in/ezirM46d 3. SAHR is looking for two new #boardmembers, with experience in financial management or resource mobilization Previous board experience is not required—just passion, commitment, and a desire to contribute your skills to a grassroots organization making a difference. If that’s you (or someone you know), please reach out. This #GivingTuesday, let’s remember the #power we have to back those driving change. #GivingTuesday #SocialImpact #GenderJustice #GenderBasedViolence #SocialImpact

It's more urgent than ever for philanthropy to stand up for trans communities. This #TransAwarenessWeek, we're resharing these tips from Gabriel Foster of the Trans Justice Funding Project: 🏳️⚧️ Fund trans justice organizations working locally as well as nationally. 🏳️⚧️ Fund groups with and without 501(c)(3) status — the Trans Justice Funding Project does this by maintaining both a collective action fund at Tides Foundation and a non-charitable trust. 🏳️⚧️ Fund groups in the middle — established groups that are too large for some funders but aren’t large enough for others. 🏳️⚧️ Remember that trans justice and liberation is also racial justice, migrant justice, economic justice, disability justice, gender justice, and so much more.
