Inspired by Jordan Snapper’s Winning Wednesday thread, I wanted to share one of my biggest wins of the year with you - Having multiple clients approach me about joining them in-house in the past few weeks... and being in a comfortable enough place to kindly decline. I could have chosen a number of accomplishments to share: Networking with many people I’ve never met, despite my extreme introversion Making the move from Osek Patur to Osek Murshe (different types of businesses, depending on income levels) in Q1 2024 Handling difficult client situations with poise and assertive humility (even when I’m reduced to a sniveling puddle inside) Adjusting my pricing to better reflect my value - and my busy schedule But at the end of the day, being asked to work full-time for a company as an employee (in some cases, saying, “We think you’re a good fit, please apply,” and in others, “We want you on board, let’s come to an agreement and sign a contract,”) is a huge testament (yes, I used a now ChatGPT-famous word, but it’s fitting here) to how they view me, my work, and my commitment to client-centered relationships. In all of the cases (I believe there were 4 in the past 6 weeks), I was flattered. Extremely flattered. I love working with them all. Which is one of the main reasons why I just can’t go in-house. The other, of course, is, that running my own business was the best decision I’ve ever made (professionally, that is). (Wow! So many parentheses in one post!) Despite the stress and the hustle, I love: 1. Setting my own hours 2. Choosing the projects I take on 3. Working with different industries and contacts 4. Challenging myself to learn more, do more, and become more efficient 5. Not having the threat of “all the eggs in my single basket” being snatched away So, no, I’m not going to go in-house any time soon. B2B and B2C founders, CMOs, heads of content, and marketing managers - feel free to DM and see how I can support your content needs while doing what I love.

My brain is expanding rapidly. I’ve had an incredible first few days on my Snap Lens Lab programme with Snap Inc. and Royal College of Art. Yesterday was spent at the Snap office where we were able to learn so much about: - The culture at Snap and how employee resource groups are empowered, championed and a core aspect of the working environment. - Experience AR technologies IRL with the AR glasses which was very surreal and from my technical perspective just ignited so much curiosity and interest even if I didn’t understand all the physics of it 😂. - Hear unique perspectives around branding, communications, creative strategy and product. So much I could say but I want to focus on my gratitude for this opportunity which I can already feel is having such an impact just by being able to connect with other like-minded creatives and absorbing a tonne of knowledge from employees/ creatives at Snap and the RCA. One key point I took from Valentina Culatti that was echoed by others was around letting go of your ego and being humble which is a value that keeps me grounded on a personal level but one that I believe is fundamental for the success and evolution of industries and individuals. Cant wait to see how my knowledge of immersive technologies deepens and what can come from this experience. #womenintech #augmentedreality #tech

Remember when I launched the 'Council on Social Media Relations ( Florida Based ) I was dragged for 2 years so I started the Social Media Research Institute ? 🤌🏾 It’s time to revive that initiative, but on a much larger scale. What needs to happen now is that all major tech companies come together under a unified global collaborative the Council On Social Media Relations (Global). This isn’t just about gathering around a table; it’s about creating a framework where these companies can collaborate, share insights, and address the pressing challenges that social media poses on a global level. Corporations like the Social Media Research Institute would play a crucial role in facilitating these efforts, working alongside other companies that represent different countries. Together, we could shape policies, influence industry standards, and drive meaningful change in how social media impacts society. Imagine the impact of such a collaboration a truly global effort to address issues like misinformation, data privacy, and social media addiction. This isn’t just a vision; it’s a necessary step forward. The potential here is enormous. ✔️ #LetsGo"
We were honored to host the members of our inaugural Council for Digital Well-Being and their chaperones at Snap HQ last month for an in-person summit! The jam-packed few days included breakout sessions, group discussions, mentorship opportunities, guest speakers, and more, uncovering interesting insights on topics such as online pitfalls, parental tools, and digital and in-person social dynamics. We’re excited to continue to engage with the Council Members and to share additional learnings in the future. Hear from the teens and learn more about the Summit. ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/er2YiCdV

Snap Inc. has been certified, BDE. Big Deck Energy. While the Sharks get a full fledged pitch, most companies have to impress their potential investor with business decks. Now we see how Snapchat made this far. Here are the top three things we like about this deck. 💫 The Deck Flow resembled a story that we wanted to keep reading and was very intriguing. 💫 The Focus was on features that everyone today loves about Snapchat. This shown conviction and intuition. 💫 Lastly, the ending has a bunch of accounts that the investors can see to understand the concept of Snapchat. A stellar start to a company that has broken the social media landscape. Tune in next week for a company that has some serious BDE.

Re-emphasizing the importance of recognizing threats, exercising caution while using social media, using the suspicion first approach before accepting friend requests from strangers, using discretion while texting with strangers, knowing when to have an open communication with the primary care givers about unacceptable behavior from strangers online, know how to increase the account privacy, reporting and blocking them, and having the good sense to alert your peers about such people to keep them safe too. All this and more put together is called Internet Maturity. Kids must be trained for Internet Maturity rather than just digital safety, parents must be made aware that parental controls, digital and infrastructural solutions are not enough to keep kids safe on line and the scenario of Digital Parenting is incomplete without inculcating Internet Maturity in children.

I've been pouring over the lawsuit by U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico against Snap Inc. It should really be required reading for any parent. I wanted to highlight the test Snapchat account that was created, 1) because the results are shocking, but 2) because this has been replicated by countless other organizations and individuals. We can no longer stick our heads in the sand and pretend that Snapchat is safe for kids. How many times do we have to prove that it's not?

Did you know Snap Inc. is very much alive and well? Annnnnnnnd creators are really on there making $$$? If you're a creator and you're on there, I think its the perfect time to start trying it out. I think the platform allows you to be sooo creative and fun because there are so many options with filters, etc. to do so. I recently advised our client, Nate to dust off that account and Snap has awarded him as Creator of the Week! Are you signing up or dusting off that account? #Snap #Snapchat #socialmedia #socialmediaplatforms #snapchatads

At the end of 2023, I was teetering on a big decision—stepping away from the business I’d run for over five years. The idea was terrifying (cue existential dread), but I was craving more connection, a team dynamic, and something new. Then came a casual coffee chat with Tom in November, which turned into, “Why not give it a shot?”. Fast-forward less than a year, and I’m very glad I made the jump. Joining the Snap team has been everything I didn’t know I needed—implementing ideas freely, building Snap’s strategy arm, and working with an ambitious, ego-free team that’s all about moving forward and helping clients do the same. Some highlights from this year: ✔️ 10+ brand strategy workshops held ✔️ 10+ brand strategies written and implemented ✔️ One team trip to Lisbon for the Web Summit ✔️ Many memorable team events ✔️ Countless collaborations with charities and small businesses ✔️ Incredible clients across diverse industries What’s on the cards for 2025? ✔️ Many exciting new projects lined up ✔️ International client workshops booked ✔️ A house for my partner and I (hopefully... 😅) Taking the leap back into employment was scary, but I couldn’t have picked a better team—one that makes a Friday wine or two a little too enjoyable... Now it’s time to sign off for the year, eat my weight in pigs in blankets, and binge-watch overly cheesy Christmas films. 🎅 Over and out—have a fabulous Christmas! P.S. 2025 is the year I stay consistent on LinkedIn… maybe 👀
