Each year, DC Building Group proudly adopts a family from the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation to make their Christmas extra special. Yesterday, our DCBG team had the joy of spending time with Samantha and her family, delivering presents, and sharing smiles. It was truly heartwarming to bring a little holiday magic into their beautiful home. We’re beyond excited to spread joy and happiness this season. Merry Christmas to all!

FEEDBACK! It's a challenge - at least for me - that when I give a virtual talk, I don't always get much feedback about how it "landed." My CTA is to ask for an application of the learning with 1 of 2 actions (primarily on LinkedIn) in the next 24 hours. And I did that last evening when I finished the talk for the Public Health Career Club at PH SPOT on "Not Networking - Engaging Instead." You can imagine my surprise - and ELATION - when I finished a quick bite of a late supper less than 2 hours later to find a message from Linda Setiawan with this wonderful feedback: "I appreciate your advice to approach networking with a mindset of "engaging" in a way that adds to the conversation." AND - she had already written a post!! And she is now working on her banner and her "About" section to increase her visibility. #PomPomsToYou, Linda, for moving forward with the actions so quickly - and for moving your intentions into RESULTS!
May is Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month! I joined my colleagues at the Therapeutics Development Network, Seattle Children's last Sunday to walk for a cure. Great initiative by Rochelle delos Santos leading Team Ramsey's Racers! Seattle Great Strides raised ~$160,000 to advance medical and scientific progress. I’m thrilled to work with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation towards our mission: a cure for every person with CF!
On March 11th, 2024 my beloved twin brother, Kenneth Bennett, passed away after a six year battle with ocular melanoma, a very rare and lethal cancer that afflicts few people, only 5 in a million. There are no cures yet. Unlike other major cancers, the dearth of patients makes finding treatments uneconomical for most drug and medical science companies to fund. The market is just not big enough. So research into this deadly disease requires the help of charitable people. We had our Fleece & Thank You Q3 board meeting last night and we always start with a few inspirational messages from blanket recipients/families of blanket recipients…something to remind us why we do what we do. 1 family shared their baby is out of the hospital after 535 straight days in the hospital. 1 family that shared their daughter received a Harry Potter themed blanket and all they did was listen/watch Harry Potter while in the hospital and their daughter was so happy she got this themed blanket. But we also had 1 family share that their 11 year old son received a blanket and 4 days later he lost his battle with cancer. He hugged his blanket in his last days and his mother still hugs his blanket even after his passing. Don’t forget the power of love and don’t think making 1 blanket won’t do anything…that 1 blanket will comfort a child and also their family. It’s bigger than any of us…Make sure today you help someone…
September is here, and it’s Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a cause worth fighting for. Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the privilege of curating and sharing the journeys of children who have shown extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable challenges. Witnessing their bravery has profoundly impacted me, reminding me of the strength within each of us. This month, the Neev Kolte & Brave Ronil Foundation (NKBR) is spotlighting these brave Angels/Warriors daily on its LinkedIn page. These aren’t just stories—they’re powerful examples of love, hope, and unyielding courage.
