Interesting read on how Louisiana solved the BEAD puzzle by ISP cooperation behind the scenes. “While 20 internet service providers received awards, and several more participated, most of the money and locations went to the Louisiana Local Fiber Consortium, which is a group of three organizations. Swyft Fiber and REV, two Louisiana-headquartered broadband companies, teamed up with national provider T-Mobile to make up the consortium.”

Very informative article about what it takes to build a successful and reliable network 💡
Earlier today, a group of organizations, including the Fiber Broadband Association, published a Permitting Success paper that will help local governments and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) navigate broadband network construction challenges and maximize investments in broadband connectivity for all Americans. The paper’s findings were identified during a collaborative national summit on local permitting processes, which was attended by more than 30 permitting leaders representing local, state, and federal governments, ISPs, and more. Fiber is great when it makes sense but it will never cover every subscriber - even with the massive funding initiatives we've had in the last few years. WISPs can quickly deliver broadband to areas that would otherwise wait years for fiber. The Tier 2/3 ISPs of the future are going to be hybrid access - fiber where practical and FWA everywhere else. https://lnkd.in/g95JwVZp

The Initial Proposal Volume 1 for BEAD broadband funding has been approved for every state! What does this mean? All states are cleared to begin their Challenge Period to finalize eligible locations. Once a state's challenge results and Volume 2 are both approved by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), that state may begin their subgrant selection process. This is when ISPs will be able to apply for funding. The time to prepare is now! #broadband #internetforall #beadprogram #broadbandfunding
