Day 3 - IN THE BOOKS! I am rounding out my first week in my Epic role at Health First , and today was our first whole-team meeting. We used the time to engage in several ice breakers which served to build engagement, trust amongst our team, and revealed some vulnerability as we became better aquainted with each other. We work in small groups of 4 in a horseshoe-shaped configuration that my colleague, Jonathan Benzel, RHIT , deemed a “Pod Squad ™️,” (and that quickly caught on after I “stole” it). Getting to know our Pod Squadron (Carolyn Caglione , Jusui Lumpkin, CPC , Pamela Maloney ~ rockstars!) in between focused self-education and using training resources has been a very positive experience unlike any I have had before. (This is genuinely an exploration in firsts I am noticing when I reflect on my experiences thus far 😊). We know we have each other’s backs as we progress towards our projects, cheering each other on, & pushing ourselves through the hard parts. The family and I had the opportunity yesterday to hang out with my wingman, Maverick, and take in the Fargo AirSho, one of my favorite events when it rolls around every other summer! Empirically guided insight from bicycles: you don’t have to develop an inherently stable platform. You just need to develop a #stabilizable system. It’s fascinating to see the various air frames that the Wright Brothers #experimented with (e.g., at the National Museum of the US Air Force in Dayton). The full-scale physical air frames reveal their thought process behind #iterative design of the control system for detectability and stabilizability. The #mathematics of the resulting aerodynamics followed, and the #intelligibility of the adaptive control system is as difficult as many computational solutions involving artificial intelligence.
