Ticketmaster's #Oasis Fiasco Explained 💲 🤑 🎫 The #Oasis reunion ticket fiasco didn’t just leave fans wondering 'Where Did It All Go Wrong?' ..it gave everyone front-row seats to capitalism’s worst encore, with Ticketmaster leading the charge. 💰 After waiting in a virtual queue for hours, many thought they were accessing a ticket for £148.50, but finally reached checkout only to find the price skyrocketed to £355. 💰 "Dynamic pricing," a eloquent way of saying, "we’ll charge you whatever we can get away with." To borrow from the #Gallaghers, 'Don’t Look Back in Anger,' this is just how capitalism works, right? 💰 Dynamic pricing is used frequently in the ticketing industry, adjusting prices based on supply and demand. But here’s the rub: Ticketmaster should have made it clear from the start that prices could surge to nearly double if demand was high. #Transparency was the missing element here... #ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles call for more than just raking in profits, they demand #fairness and #honesty. "Little by little," these inflated prices erode #trust and tarnish relationships. Ticketmaster, now the #Wonderwall between fans and a reasonable deal, seems to have forgotten that trust is harder to win than a #Liam Gallagher sibling reunion. . Without #trust, all you’re left with is overpriced tickets and a chorus of furious fans. #Oasis were once the champions of the working class, the heroes who sang Live Forever. Now their reunion tour feels much more like a "Cigarettes & Alcohol" price tag… While we may have seen dynamic pricing, it’s rare to see such extreme price jumps while fans are still in the purchase queue. Opportunistic touts swooped in immediately, listing tickets on resale sites for up to £6,000. Even Sir Keir Starmer had to step in, promising the government will "get a grip" on this nonsense. Telling fans to just suck it up and pay inflated prices isn’t customer service, it’s customer sabotage. It doesn’t build #loyalty; it 'Rolls With It' straight into PR disaster territory. If this really is the last chance to see Oasis, maybe it’s time Ticketmaster and the industry starts to incorporate ethical leadership into their strategy. Take a cue from "Champagne Supernova" ..stop drowning in a sea of greed and focus on something more valuable, #trust. After all, just like the #Gallaghers’ legendary spats, once trust is broken, it takes, as "Some Might Say", a lifetime to put back together! It’s easy to forget the great innovation taking place within large companies. As someone that consistently fumbles to find my ticket and wallet on command, AT&T’s work on face-based ticketing and payment options (aka: biometric ticketing and concessions) is really interesting. It’s a beautiful display of innovation that improves live experiences. I’m really curious to see how this technology evolves. Any thoughts on how marketers will try to get in on it?
