Being a first-time Head of Marketing has taught me a few things - and it’s not all about strategy.
Here’s what I’ve learned so far:
✅ Even if YOU have the context on an initiative, it’s your responsibility to communicate the WHY. Having a clear understanding of company goals or projects is one thing, but making sure your team understands the bigger picture is what drives real engagement and results.
✅ Sometimes, you have to be the catalyst. Projects can easily get bogged down, taking longer than expected. But when you’re the one pushing, encouraging, and removing roadblocks, you create the momentum that keeps things moving forward.
✅ You set the tone - both good and bad. Energy is contagious. When you bring energy and positivity, your team feels it. But the same goes for low energy. Being aware of this has been a gamechanger for me.
At ZenMaid, we’ve seen +14% growth in MRR this year, and we’re gearing up to take a few big swings on marketing to push our growth and pipeline even further. It’s an exciting time, and these lessons have been instrumental in helping us get here.
