John Sherman, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Department of Defense (DOD), announced an upcoming digital modernization strategy named "Fulcrum," set to be released in June. This strategy aims to transition the DOD to a software-defined enterprise, building on the department's 2019 defense modernization strategy. Sherman highlighted the collaborative efforts involving multidisciplinary teams from various military and defense agencies to develop this guide. The strategy will address multiple dimensions of digital transformation, including expanding joint force capabilities, modernizing IT networks, and enhancing the digital workforce. At the core of these initiatives is the Customer Experience Office, which plays a critical role in addressing operational challenges and improving service delivery. Sherman's extensive experience in the intelligence community and previous roles in the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency deeply influence his leadership approach, emphasizing a more rugged, flexible, and secure DOD. #defensemodernization #softwaredefinedenterprise #fulcrumstrategy #digitaltransformation #itmodernization #dodinnovation #jointforce #informationtechnology #customerexperience #digitalworkforce Source- https://lnkd.in/gt-i6uJf

Delivering information to the decision-makers who need it -- from the DoD to the battlefield -- reliably, securely, and at the speed of relevance is crucial. Let's talk at TEM. At the upcoming US Army Technical Exchange Meeting (TEM) 12, “The network is the Army’s number one transformation priority.” That means getting information where and when it’s needed, in a simple and intuitive way for users. Kinetic Data’s Digital Experience Platform (DXP) separates the front-end user interface from complex back-end IT infrastructure, integrating with virtually any system or data source in place today—as well as what will be in place tomorrow. It enables process owners to rapidly develop built-for-purpose user-facing applications using a backend-as-a-service (#BaaS) approach while future-proofing the Army’s network of the future. Sector Focus - Defence: What Fulcrum IT Strategy Means for Warfighters and the Future of Defence What can we learn from the US Department of Defence's new IT strategy. "The Department of Defense’s new Fulcrum IT Strategy marks a pivotal shift in modernising its technological approach, prioritising user experience and interoperability for enhanced warfighter support." “Success is defined by the user experience — ensuring that decisions are made with the warfighter in mind.” This strategy exemplifies a forward-thinking approach, focusing on agility and the strategic use of emerging technology. Broadly, the Fulcrum strategy is structured around four lines of effort that the document states represent “a strategic shift that embraces technology as a mission enabler.” They include: LOE 1: Provide Joint Warfighting IT capabilities to expand strategic dominance of U.S. Forces and mission partners. LOE 2: Modernise information networks and compute to rapidly meet mission and business needs. LOE 3: Optimise IT governance to gain efficiencies in capability delivery and enable cost savings. LOE 4: Cultivate a premier digital workforce ready to deploy emerging technology to the warfighter. 123.EXPERT’S TAKE: Clearly the Fulcrum strategy could easily provide a framework for any organisation. Sales and/or marketing are warfighters to some extent, in the battle for market dominance. The DoD's ambitious CJADC2 initiative, aimed at revolutionizing networked operations across all military branches, faces scrutiny from Rep. Rob Wittman, who urges a recalibration of its scope to ensure success. Wittman, Vice Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, advocates for a focused approach that prioritizes foundational elements over expansive objectives, emphasizing the need for a robust data annotation system and enhanced bandwidth infrastructure. Opportunities for industry lie in developing scalable solutions that address CJADC2's foundational requirements. CRG advises industry leaders to focus on innovations in data annotation, synthetic data processing, and bandwidth expansion technologies crucial for modern ISR capabilities. 🔹Transforming for a Complex World: AUSA 2024 Annual Meeting🔹 The Association of the United States Army - AUSA recently came out with its Annual Meeting theme, "Transforming for a Complex World," an apt description of where the Defense industry stands today. Here's why we're going to the conference. As global challenges evolve at an unprecedented pace, we believe military capabilities must adapt as well. Today's defense landscape is being reshaped by AI-driven battlefield decision-making, advanced cybersecurity measures for critical infrastructure, autonomous systems, and next-generation communication networks. Even so, successfully navigating the complex federal landscape requires more than cutting-edge solutions. It demands strategic insight, deep market understanding, and the ability to align innovative technologies with military needs. We're proud to be at the forefront of this transformation. We guide innovative defense tech companies through the federal marketplace, facilitating crucial connections between industry pioneers and key decision-makers, and providing strategic advice to bridge the gap between next-generation capabilities and military requirements. AUSA 2024 is a nexus for partnership, connection, and transformation for an increasingly advanced technological landscape. At the core of “competitive overmatch” is data and technology – the ability to make better decisions, faster, at any level, anywhere. We should talk. Technological superiority within the United States Department of Defense (DoD) and on the battlefield requires more than identifying best-of-breed solutions. It also requires agility and adaptability to enable rapid change. Our Digital Experience Platform (DXP) approach separates the front-end user experience from back-end system complexity. It enables you to create built-for-purpose applications that are easy to use while eliminating vendor lock-in and future-proofing your technology environment. If this sounds interesting, contact us at KineticData.com to arrange a connection at the Modern Day Marine event, April 30 – May 2 in Washington, DC. We’re battle-tested. We’ve been implementing solutions over the past decade for the US Navy and United States Marine Corps, the Defense Information Systems Agency, The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), the Missile Defense Agency, and more. Let’s talk about how we can help with your mission. #marines #datamesh #CDAO #software #devsecops #MDM24 #ModernDayMarine Cc Alex Gierber, Phillip "Phil" Frietze, Stephen Lightfoot, Marine Corps League, Marine Corps Association, Andrew Konicki, Bryan Eovito, CISM, CDPSE, Bryan Hatfield, Craig Clarkson, Dane Salm, Colonel Devin "Lick" Licklider, PMP, Howard Hall, Karl Arbogast, Kirk Spangenberg
