On International Women’s Day it is only fitting I reflect on some of the lessons I’ve learned from my amazing Mom as she continues to battle Cancer:
⭐️ The Power of Faith
⭐️ When in doubt, love more
⭐️ Moments Matter
⭐️ Kindness is not weakness
⭐️ Don’t Talk about it, Do It
⭐️ Your Mindset can make or break your life

An insightful and fun post on how to talk to someone with cancer.
These points stood out to me:
- Stay open to someone's story
- Be curious about it, rather than offer a platitude.
- Offering specific help
- Just be present (and normal) rather than making them assign you a task.
It is worth mentioning that if you are supporting or know someone who is going through cancer then this will impact you too and those feelings need to be taken care of.
In the OET, some role plays are between a relative or carer and the healthcare professional. This highlights the importance of 'next of kin' relationships. In contrast, there is no roleplay about talking with friends of a sick person. This absence is for good reasons, namely confidentiality and privacy. Of course, people can nominate medical power of attorney (POA) to friends and loved ones so they can be part of these conversations, but this is not really a common practice.
Author and podcaster, Dan Savage, notes that there are two kinds of closeness: 'the biological family and the logical family'. I agree with Dan especially after the experience of losing a close friend to cancer while I lived in Japan.
We need to find healthy ways to help living with cancer and other illnesses. Thank you Sharron Moffatt (MHFA®/ACSM) for pointing us in the right direction.

7 Things not to say to someone nevigating cancer - from someone who heard them all 🤦🏻♀️
When someone you care about has cancer, your words have power. 💪
It's not about being perfect or getting everything right. it's about your genuine intentions, and showing a whole lot of empathy and understanding.
Sidestepping the topic isn't the solution - Embrace the conversation. ✔️
Here are some insights on what to avoid saying and what you can say instead. 👇
I'd love to hear your thoughts. 💚

Surviving cancer can be tough but having conversations about it need not be. Some really good ideas here to shift and reframe questions to support those going through treatment. It has helpful conversations about what you can say to have empathy and connection to those with a cancer diagnosis.
The last slide also contains the very important reminder to get your screenings as early detection can be a lifesaver.
I'm 5 years out as a breast cancer survivor so I know whereof I speak. All of this is #goodadvice - and I am happy to share it far and wide.

This is an important one to read!
Many of us fear saying the wrong thing to someone fighting the dreaded big C - Cancer.
You know you want to show your support and you know that saying something is better than saying nothing, but it’s really easy to say the wrong thing; although, as Sharron Moffatt (MHFA®/ACSM) has taught me, it’s not necessarily about right or wrong, it’s about educating ourselves to be better with it.
This post has educated me today, so I wanted to share it with you too.
Have you fallen foul of this?

This is your friendly reminder to confront that fear and begin sharing your message & solutions of what your service can do for others.
🗣️ I had a client in my content mentorship group who was a coach that helped women regain strength and confidence after battling cancer.
🖤 She was also a 2x survivor but, her fear of looking crazy was holding her back. I have an aunt that's beat 4 stage cancer also, so it hits home deep for me with this.
We did these three things with her in depth:
✍️ We found out where the fear was stemming from.
✍️ We encouraged her through exercises to be herself
✍️ We gave her tips to visualize helping and not helping her ideal clients.
Did it work? Yes! Was it easy? No! Was it worth it? YES!
What do you feel is holding you back from really sharing your message?

Cancer has triggered numerous changes in my personal and business life. Upon reflection, it may be that the cancer (and later COVID) were big flags that I had to learn how to do my work more virtually. I'm making progress, but will still ask to bear with me.

A dear friend of mine recently received the devastating news that her husband has stage 4 lung cancer. While still grappling with that, she learned just two days ago that her mother had passed away. I was stunned—how was she holding it together?
When I called her, the first thing she said was, “Please don’t ever think of telling me that I’m strong. I don’t want to be strong.”
It made me stop and reflect: Why do we tell people going through the worst moments of their lives to “stay strong”? Why do we say, “You are strong”?
The truth is, people facing immense pain don’t need to be strong. They need a space to fall apart, to grieve, and to feel everything without pressure. What they need most is for us to be present—to sit with them in their sadness, hold space for their emotions, and let them break if they need to.
Sometimes, the greatest support we can offer is simply being there—without words, without expectations.
Share your thoughts or experiences in the comments—your words might be exactly what someone needs to hear today. Let's spread the message that being present matters more than being strong.

In a way, I'm grateful that I got to experience being told that my days were done.
I took on the mindset of:
✅ I just want make my wife proud.
✅ I want to be better than I was yesterday, today.
✅ I want to be better than I am today, tomorrow.
I've since taken this into all aspects of my life and embraced it.
For example, my course: The Transformation Experience.
I do not do this for monetary gain.
I do not need the money.
I do it because it's the right thing to do.

When people face challenges in life or face any adversity, they find it difficult to deal with in the first phase. Even people who are diagnosed with some disease like cancer, they feel why are they the chosen ones. Why are they supposed to go through so much. What wrong deeds are done by them. These thoughts of why me jolt the person and one feels depressed because of it.
It is important to understand that whatever happens in life happens as per Gods plans. He chooses people to go through tough times so that they can learn from their experiences, gain knowledge about it, have wisdom in life and person who goes through such times feel’s transformation from within. He becomes more humble and empathetic and learns to appreciate life more. All this personal growth and transformation happens when one goes through challenging times.
So one should believe that this is Gods plan to choose us for our personal growth and for transforming us from within.
