September feels like a fresh start. Which is odd considering it’s the 9th month. For us in the UK, it’s obviously linked to the new school year, anyway. That feeling as a child of a fresh uniform, new shoes, and a clean pencil case still permeates my yearly planning as a 30-something-year-old. At Steadfast Collective, we have rhythms that keep things in balance. Sometimes, it’s time for a spring clean, future planning, or just a heads-down sprint to get stuff done. Within your communities, you’ll have similar rhythms you may not have even considered. Daily, weekly, monthly or yearly rituals that keep checks and balances. August and December are often quieter months for those working in B2B, while for those working in B2C, the months leading up to Christmas are anything but quiet. Each year, you should consider reviewing and evaluating core processes and plans; - Goals and objectives - How do you hope to achieve these - What your community needs/wants - The health of your community - Budgets It’s easy to get swept up within the day-to-day, but this is your reminder to set aside time to review what you need to do for the next 3/6/12 months. Measure, Measure, Measure, Cut. That’s what I was taught back in carpentry class.

GIRL MATH : Making breakfast at home 🌱 Making eggs at home = $3 🌱 Coffee at home = $1 🌱 Using your own electricity = $2 🌱 Walking to your kitchen = free cardio 🌱 Being your own chef = labor cost 🌱 Setting up your workspace = facility fee 🌱 Cleaning your dishes = janitorial services 🌱 Writing your grocery list = administrative work 🌱 Using my phone to look up recipes = technology fee By girl math standards, I just SAVED $487 by making breakfast at home instead of going out ✨ And since I saved money, I can spend it elsewhere... it’s basically free money at this point. ✨ SU Food Pantry ✨ In the past year (yes, it's been a whole year now!) as president of The SU, University of Bath, there's been a lot of moments I'm proud of. There's also been a lot of projects that amazed me, and made me feel like we have the absolute best staff, officers and students here at Bath. The last campaign we ran as an officer team, just last week, definitely takes the crown on what I've been proudest of. In just a week, the whole officer team got together and ran a successful campaign in which we reached over 250 students, giving them access to food and toiletries to help them through exam season - which stressful as it is, is only exacerbated by the current cost-of-living crisis. Some highlights: ◾ Spread over five days, in only ten hours, 259 students accessed the food pantry and got to build a food parcel, no questions asked. ◾ In the build up to opening the pantry, all five officers managed all the logistics behind this very time consuming project: budgeting for it, doing the research on the appropriate items to include, finding the best purchasing options for them, finding an appropriate space which considered our diverse student body's needs, and advertising this initiative accordingly. All of this, I must add, while fulfilling our very full on, full-time roles. ◾ Students, prior to formal feedback being collected, have already reported how useful this was and how it helped them through what is a very stressful time of year for them. As usual, I cannot finish this post without thanking the team ( Amber S., David Lam, Hanna Hajzer, and Abigail Watkin) for all the effort they put into it. I seriously cannot say how proud I am of them and how much I've enjoyed my time as an officer with them. https://lnkd.in/em-SKcAh
