‚About community building‘: Secret 3️⃣ of 🔟💫 💡 Ever wondered what else truly makes a #community thrive sustainably? It’s ‘Dependency’! It's always great to get feedback on our work; this little nugget was no exception. It was a fascinating piece of work helping 17 charities work together to improve understanding of their shared challenges around recruitment and retention and develop plans to pool ideas and resources to tackle them together. The collaborative spirit was truly inspiring. Always a pleasure to work with Cate and the amazing team at Surrey Youth Focus and the privilege of hearing about so much fantastic work these groups are doing for their communities in and around Surrey. Humbling. This topic is increasingly prevalent in this space, along with the challenges of workforce planning in such a volatile climate and the impact this has on future estate planning and hybrid working - another critical challenge we see increasingly with clients. What are your significant headaches in this space? What are you doing about them? North Face Consulting Ltd. - Because your People, are your Business!

I've been fascinated with this little known program called RETAIN that helps retrain injured, disabled, or chronically ill employees. It's intended to help keep folks at the same companies they were working at before becoming disabled or chronically ill. We know from research that the longer an employee stays out on disability, the less likely they are to come back to work, which can result in employees and their families losing income and economic security. Companies benefit in retaining these employees as it can keep institutional knowledge, keep up moral, and sometimes even reduce training costs. As long COVID continues to be an issue for many and disabling conditions continue to rise, it's more essential than ever to utilize these programs to help families, communities, and the economy.
There’s no place like the Sunflower State! 🌻 🌻 🌻 ODEP’s Deputy Assistant Secretary Jennifer Sheehy is at the 2024 Annual #RETAINWORKS Summit today in Topeka, Kansas, to celebrate the successes of our Kansas RETAIN initiative. Not familiar with RETAIN? The Retaining Employment and Talent After Injury or Illness Network (RETAIN) project focuses on building state capacity to improve outcomes for people who experience a disability that inhibits their ability to work. It also aims to reduce long-term work absences among project participants. RETAIN is a joint initiative between us and the Employment and Training Administration, also at the U.S. Department of Labor, and the Social Security Administration. To learn more about how RETAIN is supporting workers in Kansas through RETAINWORKS, watch how the Abilene Fire Department sought RETAINWORKS’ help when Assistant Fire Chief Jeremy Stuck injured his leg. https://retainworks.org/

🌟 Empowerment in Action – The Case Intake Tool at Work 🌟 At BBSS, we believe true healing starts with collaboration. In this video, watch how our social workers partner with survivors, using the Case Intake Tool (CIT) to design personalized self-care plans that guide them on their journey to independence. By mapping out needs and setting clear goals, survivors are empowered to take control of their lives, one step at a time. This is more than just paperwork—it’s a blueprint for recovery and resilience. 🔹 Together, we build trust. 🔹 Together, we restore rights. 🔹 Together, we create lasting change. 🎥 Watch the CIT in action and witness how partnership paves the way for healing. #CBRwithBBSS #EmpoweringSurvivors

Each year, we deliver at least 18,000 hot meals to people living outside in Wilmington. Street outreach is at the core of our mission, and has been instrumental in making First Fruit Ministries not just a critical resource provider, but a safe, trusted ally to those experiencing homelessness. We wholeheartedly believe that in providing reliable access to food, we help unhoused individuals shift their focus from basic survival to rebuilding their lives. When this critical need is met, we see our clients shift their focus to finding shelter, employment, and opportunities to grow. Just now, one of our long-term clients is rounding out his third week of full-time employment. Our food delivery program is about far more than providing meals. It’s about reducing isolation and providing social currency. By sharing spaces and experiences, we build trust and create real relationships, breaking down the “us vs. them” divide and forming a community where everyone is seen and valued. Ultimately, relieving hunger and forming relationships on the streets enables us to build trust, understand needs, and work collaboratively to create lasting solutions and provide meaningful, long-term support.

The Power of Community in Recovery Journeys The journey of recovery is deeply rooted in community—a space where empathy, support, and collective strength transform individual challenges into shared victories. Peer support plays a pivotal role, offering a platform for those in recovery to not only share their own experiences but also to draw strength from others' stories of resilience. Let’s acknowledge the profound impact of building a supportive network in enhancing the effectiveness of recovery processes. #PeerSupport
