Preparing a quality award entry takes time and energy, so if you don’t end up with an award, it is understandable to be disappointed and think it wasn't worth the effort. But it is worth the effort. You may not win a shiny award, but you could be nominated, short-listed or a finalist and these can all be used to boost your profile and enhance your credibility. Most business awards have a program of events around them, like a gala presentation, which are opportunities to meet and network with your peers. There’s the chance to share your story of how and why you began your business, which could be just the thing someone else needs to hear to get started. You could be an inspiration to someone! And when you’re preparing your submission, it can be a timely reminder of the little victories along the way and that is a boost to your ego. It is also a time to take an in-depth look at your business and celebrate your achievements and work on your weaknesses. It is a useful way of finding out how you compare and contrast to other businesses. So even if you don't win (although that would be nice), there is still lots to be gained by the process. Credible Source Solutions has an excellent track record for preparing winning awards entries. Award ceremony season can create alienation as well as admiration… This came to light whilst I’m with a client, having found out that she’s a finalist, following on from her self-nomination that we completed together. Which brings me to the topic of recognition in business. We all work tirelessly and relentlessly on our businesses, and while some may not seek external validation, others feel disheartened when they are not acknowledged for their hard work. If you find yourself in the latter category, I encourage you to consider self-nomination. Did you know that 80% of businesses nominate themselves for public awareness? Who knows your business better than you? Receiving an award is not the ultimate measure of success, yet it is a validating process of your success. However, it's crucial to carefully select where you choose to nominate yourself. And it’s also crucial to remember that awards do not dictate that someone else's work is better than yours. Winning an award does not diminish the value of your work or the work of others. It is a subjective process and should not be the sole measure of success. Be selective however, think about your brand and where you have positioned it in the world. Who’s validation do you really want? #awards #ceremonies #businesses #recognition #validation #business #simplepr

When you’re in business, your focus is understandably on the present and future so it is easy to forget everything you’ve done so far. It is one of the unexpected benefits of entering awards – it is an opportunity to take stock and realise how far you’ve come. Often when I work with clients on their awards entries, they are pleasantly surprised when they list their achievements and accomplishments in business. So even if you don’t get a prize, you’ll still get something positive out of the process. Are you doing incredible award winning things but struggling to find the time to enter awards? Or are you questioning whether awards are worth all the time and effort? We have some Plain Speaking thoughts to share on the topic ... 👇 #Norfolkbusiness #PRagency #Businessawards #PRforgood #Copywriting
It’s award season now, with lots of opportunities to nominate your business, your people and your projects. Are you thinking “Ooh yes, we should enter” But... “Isn’t it a lot of bother for little or no return"? Here’s our take on it. Winning or being shortlisted for a credible*, respected award gives your business the opportunity to: 🏆 Recognise and reward your team for their hard work, boost team motivation and morale all while putting your business on a pedestal to help attract new talent. 🏆 🏆 Showcase your competitive edge, what you do well, and why your business stands out from the rest. 🏆 🏆 🏆 Demonstrate how your brand is putting its values into practice, such as your commitment to sustainability, diversity, your people or community. 🏆🏆 🏆 🏆 Elevate your brand, enhance your reputation and boost your credibility within the business community. *Yep we said ‘credible’. Word of caution. There are some award schemes out there which are pure ‘vanity’ awards or operate in questionable ways. So, with so many to choose from, and some timewasters to filter out, it’s important to do the research and planning upfront, making sure you’re investing your time, budget and resources into the ones which: a) Are the real deal b) You have a good chance of being shortlisted in or winning. For our #Norfolk friends and connections, we’d recommend looking at the EDP Business Awards, which are now open. Entries close on Sunday 28th July. https://lnkd.in/e7jDbU_Q 🤙 If ‘research and enter awards’ is on your growing to-do list, and you’d like a no-nonsense chat about how we might be able to support you, please get in touch. (Not to brag but we recently bagged one client a national win and a shortlisting too.) Pippa & Hannah

Certainly, the value of an award can be influenced by several factors: 1. **Reputation of the Giver**: Awards given by well-known and respected organizations or individuals carry more weight. The reputation of the awarding body can enhance the prestige of the award. 2. **Credentials of the Receiver**: The recipient's achievements and standing in their field can also impact the perceived value of the award. Accomplished and renowned individuals receiving an award can enhance its prestige. 3. **Past Recipients**: The list of previous awardees can affect the award's value. If past recipients are highly regarded, it can elevate the status of the award. 4. **Whether the Award is for Sale**: If an award can be bought rather than earned through merit, its value diminishes. Awards that are seen as genuine recognitions of achievement are more respected than those perceived as purchasable.

Is my business ready to enter an award? If your business is kicking goals, experiencing growth, creating happy customers, engaging your people, giving back to the community or demonstrating innovation you may well be ready to win an award! In our experience, most businesses tend to underestimate how impressive their achievements are, rather than the other way around. Part of our value-add is to recommend which awards would be suitable to enter now and which might be better to enter down the track. We even advise you on potential areas to work on to improve your suitability for an award. We’ll never suggest you enter an award we don’t think you have a chance of winning. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/g-NTDygi

Here’s what to focus on when looking for an awards consultancy to help you with your business awards. → Look for someone that not only handles the awards submission process end-to-end but is also focused on ensuring you’re entering awards you have the best chance of becoming a winner or a finalist in. A good awards consultancy will work according to clever strategy and complete in-depth interviews to get to know why you deserve to be award-winning, digging deep into your business’ achievements, purpose, processes and journey. They should start by discovering what your business is about and what makes you unique, and conduct awards research to find which awards are best suited to you and your business. A very experienced award agency will also be able to offer strategic advice on what might need attention in your current business operations, and what programs or initiatives you could introduce, to maximise your chances of an award win. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/g-B2d59j
