HUMAN TOUCH 💗 When you care, it shows. - ‘A surprisingly low percentage of Italians actually understand/speak English’. - ‘Oh, I know!’ I had a call with a potential client a couple of days ago, and her humanity and care for clear communication with her clients made my day. She told me she welcomed an Italian traveler on a tour and safari organized by her Tour Operator business. Thailand Eyes Multi-Nation Visa to Lure High-Spending Tourists #ThailandTourism #TravelSoutheastAsia 🇹🇭 Exciting news for travel enthusiasts! Thailand is proposing a joint visa program with Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Vietnam. This initiative, modeled after the Schengen Area visa, would allow tourists to seamlessly travel across these Southeast Asian nations with a single visa. This move comes as Thailand strives to attract more long-haul, high-spending travelers. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin aims to elevate Thailand's tourism industry beyond a hotspot and into a regional aviation and logistics hub. This multi-nation visa program could be a game-changer for Southeast Asian tourism, offering a convenient and cost-effective way to explore the beauty and diversity of the region. #TravelGoals #VisaFreeTravel Credits: This initiative is reported by Bangkok Post Bangkok Post: https://lnkd.in/gb3-CbW

Stockholm Archipelago Trail! 🇸🇪🌲🛶 Sweden's latest sustainable attraction opens to visitors this month! The 270km long trail connects 21 islands and allows visitors to walk across the archipelago for the first time – all the way to the Öja in the far south. It is comprised of 22 legs in total and is well signposted, with guesthouses and B&Bs dotted along the way so hikers can rest and recover in the evenings. According to a survey by @VisitStockholm, only around 20% of visitors to the Swedish capital actually take a boat out to the archipelago, and so one of the hopes with the new trail is that it will help spread the city's visitors more evenly between its centre and its archipelago of islands. This is both sustainable and beneficial to business owners outside of the immediate city with plenty on their doorstep to offer guests. in order to maximise the opportunity that the trail represents, we would recommend that business owners along the way draw on the power of translation and localisation to sell their services to potential visitors from all over the world! After all, most internet users search for destinations in their own language, and so the best way to reach visitors with information about new sights and destinations is to create content they are sure to find. For more on this topic, check out our recent article on sustainable tourism and translation here: https://buff.ly/3YbyfsP And you can read more about the archipelago trail here: https://buff.ly/3BBYHCU Would you like to walk the trail? Tourism plays a major role in the Italian economy, accounting for more than 10% of Italy's GDP. Just imagine, one out of every nine jobs in the country originates from the hospitality industry. And yet, last week Italian newspapers reported that people were out in the streets of major Italian cities like Rome, Florence and Naples, protesting against the impact of tourism, that short lets in particular, with slogans like 'Salviamo Firenze per Viverci' (literally, let's save Florence so we can live here) This phenomenon isn’t exclusive to Il Bel Paese either, with protests occurring in other popular destinations such as Barcelona or the Canary Islands. Is it a case of biting the hand that feeds you? Not really, because the locals who are protesting aren’t feeling the benefits, only the disadvantages, such as being priced out of the housing market. To understand better, let’s look at the concept of ‘overtourism’ in more depth. ------ Hi 👋 I’m Silvia, a native Italian translator and writer.
