🤔 Question for all commissioners, agencies, studios etc. -
What Projects Do You Love to See in an Artist's Portfolio?
Well, I might as well ask! 😂
As much as us illustrators and designers love spending time on personal projects, portfolio boosters, and creative lovely things to improve as artists, we simply don’t have the time. So we need to be pretty selective about what to spend our free time on, making sure it’s not only fun but also impactful—and can double up as an advert for our skills.
So what do the people who judge us on our work like to see? The obvious answer, as we’re always told, is that you like to see what we are passionate about. That’s great, except - we are passionate about so much!
If you’re a Creative Director, Editor, or one of the commission-y types, tell me in the comments:
What’s your favourite kind of project to see in an artist's portfolio?
- Illustrated maps? 🗺
- Full speculative rebrands? 🎯
- Stylised portraits? 🙈
- Book covers? 📕
Maybe someone’s interests might align with yours, and maybe they see your comment… and just maybe… 😊
