We’re still savoring the memories from this year's Global Produce and Floral Show 2024. 😋 Thank you to Cox Farms President, Steven Bradley, Chef Marcus Samuelsson and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Ligaya Figueras for leading a phenomenal conversation! ICYMI, here are some takeaways: 💡 Great food starts with great ingredients (like Cox Farms’ fresh, tasty produce). 💡 Don’t think of protein as only meat—vegetables can be a significant source of protein. 💡 Look at new ways to enjoy veggies and give them a starring role on your menu: they can be grilled, seared, topped and much more! . #freshproduce #agriculture

Tender Food Inc. Secures $11M Series A Funding to Revolutionize Plant-Based Meat Learn more & get our take 👇 https://lnkd.in/dPwQMSiu "Consumers are largely disappointed with plant-based meat products in the market—they’re too expensive, they don’t taste good, and are mostly limited to burgers and sausages with long, unrecognizable ingredient lists. We need new technologies to address these challenges and drive meaningful adoption in this category, which is crucial for decarbonizing our food system. Our technology allows us to create healthy products that taste great, have the structure and feel of animal meat and are much cheaper to produce.” — Christophe Chantre, Co-founder and CEO at Tender Food Inc "We're a popular vegetarian chain, so, as you can imagine, we try a lot of new plant-based products. Tender's stood out from the start—it's innovative, it's tasty, it's a great addition to our grain bowls and salads. And most importantly, we're hearing lots of positive feedback from our customers—90% of whom are meat-eaters!” — Christopher Anderson, Senior Vice President at Clover Food Lab #funding #plantbased #SoANews

We went out for lunch yesterday. I was struck by how there were so many options available for different meat based roasts, and just one vegetarian option. I kind of wanted to order it because I eat much less meat these days than I used to. But I just couldn't be confident on what would arrive. I know what I'm getting when I order roast beef. It made me think of this conversation between Kate Oliver and Alex Massey: they talk about the fact that many much-loved foods have animal products as critical components, and why it can be daunting to think about making them with plant-based ingredients. https://lnkd.in/e8TEnVHK #FoodHub #Innovation #FoodAndBeverage Innovia Technology

Would You Eat Cultivated Meat? 🍗🌱 That's @jennystojkovic, a dedicated vegan, trying cultivated chicken for the first time! This is 99% real chicken made from cultivated cells, and she says it tastes just like the real thing. Here’s my take: While it’s a fascinating innovation, I wouldn’t eat it regularly. I’m content with the vegan options we have. Plus, did you know there are bans on cultivated meat in some places? If it goes mainstream, it could revolutionize the food industry, offering a new alternative to traditional meat and eggs. These bans should be lifted to give everyone a chance to try it. What are your thoughts on cultivated meat? Comment below! #CultivatedMeat #FoodInnovation

Hey, guess what? It's National Food Day, and we celebrate every day! Seriously, this year's theme is all about "Eating Real." It's about cutting down on sugary drinks, super salty packaged foods, and fatty factory-farmed meats. Instead, we should focus on munching on veggies, fruits, whole grains, and sustainably raised proteins. The idea is to make food that's not just healthy and affordable, but also good for the planet. We should also keep in mind the well-being of farm animals and all the awesome folks who grow, harvest, and serve our food. So, how can you join in on the National Food Day fun? Well, you can attend an event near you, learn about healthful eating and sustainable farming, or try some of these ideas: 1. Read food labels and learn where your food comes from and what's in it. 2. Challenge yourself to try a new food you've never had before. 3. Plant some herbs to use in your kitchen. 4. Start a compost pile for your garden. 5. Discover a healthier way to cook your favorite foods. 6. Take your Juice Plus every day! It's the next best thing to eating a wide variety of fresh F&V daily! Let me know what you try!
