Q: What is an installer looking for from a membrane? A: An installer of outer wall systems is always under time constraints due to a variety of reason, delay in supply of parts, other trades behind schedule, adverse weather conditions to name but a few. Therefore, it is important that when it comes to fitting the membrane it is completed in a timely manner with a minimum of problems. From an installers perspective he requires a membrane that will not rip when being installed, is nail resistant to tear, does no crease when folded, will not fray when cut, is water resistant if still open to the elements after fitting, is available on time with no delays. The Stamisol Safe One membrane meets all these criteria and more with its breathability, fire protection and high UV resistance. It is the preferred choice of competent installers. How are you treating your breaker boxes, control boxes, cable pull boxes etc. that are mounted in your rated wall assemblies? If you're in my market, I'd bet you might not know it NEEDS to be treated. In the words of Austin Powers, allow myself to introduce....myself. WL7190 and a few others are great options to tend to this scenario. #3m #internationalfirestopcouncil #IFC #firestop #firestopping #firesafety #lifesafety #continuingeducation #constructioneducation #construction #buildinginnovation #buildbetter #buildsmart #passivefireprotection #codeenforcement #buildingcodes #firemarshal #buildinginspections #contractoreducation #constructionmaterials #buildingmaterials #kcmo #inspectors #codesinspectors #firemashals

Does duct need to be grounded for Static charge ? CopilotYes, ducts do need to be grounded to prevent the buildup of static electricity. When dust particles move through the ductwork, they can strip electrons from the walls of the duct, creating a static charge1. This static charge can build up to high levels and create a dangerous situation if not properly grounded1. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requires pipes and ducts to be constructed of metal and be grounded. Non-conductive pipe or ductwork should not be used according to NPFA 77 (Recommended Practice on Static Electricity)2. Grounding a dust collection system involves creating a low-resistance path for any stray electricity to follow, preventing it from causing damage or injury1. A plastic or PVC pipe system cannot be adequately grounded2. If you’re using a nonconductive connection, the code calls for a “jumper cable” to be used to continue the conductivity2. Please note that many states and localities have codes and regulations governing the construction, installation, and use of products for certain purposes, which may vary from those in neighboring areas2. It’s always a good idea to review the product application, national & local codes, regulations, and ensure that the product, installation, and use will be in compliance2. Remember, safety is paramount when dealing with electricity and static charges. If you’re unsure about any aspect of the grounding process, it’s best to seek professional assistance
