Black Joy Silent Disco 🎧 Expressing joy in the face of oppression is its own form of resistance. If you believe that Black history is American history, and if you support the teaching of accurate history so we can move forward into a collective future, we want YOU to express joy with us at the Black Joy Silent Disco!  Date: Friday, August 2 from 8pm - Midnight at TEN20 Craft Brewery Butchertown   Do I have to be Black to attend? NO! If you support the work of (Un)Known Project, which honors the names and stories of enslaved Black people in America and the global African diaspora, we want you to dance with us!   What's a Silent Disco? Why go to a party with ONE DJ set when you could have THREE DJ sets going at once? Each DJ gets their own channel and each pair of headphones has access to each channel: The GREEN Channel, the RED Channel, or the BLUE Channel. Your headset will glow the color of whichever channel you're on. You can tell what everyone else is listening to based on the color of their headset. And not only can YOU control which channel you're listening to, but you can also control the volume! Want to talk with your friends? Easy! Just take your headphones off.   Is there an age limit? TEN20 is an all-ages space, and so is our Black Joy Silent Disco. However, please be aware that our DJs may play unedited songs. The Lijadu Sisters' re-release project is a long-overdue attempt to right the wrongs of a music industry that exploited and silenced two pioneering artists. The fact that it took decades for them to regain control of their work and receive some compensation is a damning indictment of the systemic injustices that have perpetuated inequality in the music industry. The project's focus on reparation is a necessary step towards accountability, but it must also be accompanied by a commitment to transparency and structural change. Lessons learned from Mr. D: 1. Tell your family how much you love them multiple times a day. 2. Keep the door of your home open to friends and family for a great meal and cold drink. 3. Keep the pool ice cold, not sure why but it's super memorable. 4. Coach and volunteer in your town. 5. Always be willing to drive kids home after practice, regardless of how far from your home they live. 6. Love and respect your country and neighbors no exceptions Happy Memorial Day!

It’s finally October! That means it's time for your church to bust out the fall decorations and get into the season’s spirit! That also means it's time to start planning your church’s Halloween event! Whether your church celebrates Halloween, Fall Festival, or some other autumnal event, we want you to have the best night possible! What is an awesome event your church can host for this end of October holiday? Well we have an idea we think you might really like… It’s called Trunk-or-Treat! - Instead of having families go around their neighborhoods trick-or-treating, all your church families can gather in your church’s parking lot to do something even better! - In a Trunk-or-Treat event, each family decorates their car and brings it to your parking lot. Then, everyone opens up their trunks and shows off their decorations while also handing out candy to kids who can go from car to car looking for treats. - It’s a safe and community-building alternative to trick-or-treating that is fun for the whole church! If you want, you can even add a theme to the event for the decorations and costumes like Disney movies, Bible stories, or anything else you can think of! Has your church tried a Trunk-or-Treat event? When you do something like that to that many people, you create a situation where, in their eyes, the right thing and even the ONLY thing to do now is get rid of the people who already screwed you. This is also the ONLY WAY to send a message to the people coming in because 96% of the people can do a lot of damage between now and the midterms if the same behavior is repeated or even worse. FACT: More people are against genocide than were even against slavery back in the Civil War. Do you want to get up in 96% of the peoples faces and do the complete opposite of what they want and then ask them to reelect you? We told the Democrats and they didn't listen and now Bernie Sanders is livid because they ALL know it cost them the election. BREAKING!!! Bernie Sanders now LIVID because refusal to act on Jazz for Peace vote showing 96% were AGAINST GENOCIDE cost them the election.
