Have you heard about the dart-throwing chimpanzees who are better at predicting future events than human experts? It highlights an important issue that we in cyber security must be aware of. Many organisations struggle to define and collect the 'right' information, leading to incomplete sets of measures and questionable decision-making. In this article, we discuss the importance of accurate measurement when making predictions and the challenges organisations face in this area. #cybersecurity #metrics #cyberrisk

This is a good article by Ashley Le Hegarat from _SystemLabs. talking about the advantages of going passwordless. Ashley focuses on the use of Securiry Keys for users to have as a method to log into company systems, effectively doing away with the need for passwords or even the use of the 2FA time consuming process. This all sounds like a no brainer and from a data protective perspective. It more or less eliminates the risk of bad actors gaining access to you system from phishing or password stuffing and speeds up the process for your teams to get into the systems and work. A word of caution though, there is still the 'human' element involved, which I am sure the team at _SystemLabs. can help you to mitigate against. #nomorepasswords
Earlier this month our Head of Network and Security, Ashley Le Hegarat, and Head of Professional Services, Fynn Hodder, attended Infosecurity Europe, the leading cyber security event. They skilled up on all things AI in information security and how you can ensure you have the correct controls in place to protect your organisation. Following the event, Ash has put together his key takeaways around the future of passwords, focusing on the benefits of passwordless authentication with security keys. We've put together a blog about what Ash learnt: https://bit.ly/4b8M3aK

Does asking questions about cyber risk qualify as addressing cyber risk? Probably not. Yet many people still draw false comfort from opinion-based risk surveys as if these constitute risk management. If I ask for enough opinions about anything, I'll get them. Yet real-world threats, vulnerabilities and attackers do not abide by our opinions about them. Risk, like anything in life, is best managed off data, a fact base, and proven standards.

In the latest edition of the Unmasking the Cybercriminal Mind, I’m joined by Rich Gadomski and cybersecurity specialists, Dave Balcar and Rick McElroy, to take a look at current cybersecurity trends and review the year ahead in terms of how new criminal gangs, new strains of ransomware and new methods of extortion and illegal activity might shape the landscape. We’ll look at some of the common tactics being deployed and talk about how you might defend your environment and your data against cybersecurity breaches. “It starts by getting the right people in the room to start the discussion. And a worthy discussion right now is, “What would we do if “Insert keys to the kingdom here” gets ransomed right now? And I think that discussion will then lend itself to tactical projects and strategic projects that move organisations towards being more resilient.” https://spoti.fi/3UUz3AZ #cybercrime #cybersecurity #ransomware #informationsecurity #infosec
