Fire-rated doors are our protectors in the event of an emergency. The door's capability to slow down the spread of smoke gives us more time to hurry to safety. Every building should have them. Does your office building have one? Here's how you can tell: - Check for a certification label. - Look for a gap between a fire door and its frame. - Check for an intumescent strip seal — this swells in the heat and seals the gap between the fire door and frame. - Check for the self-closing mechanism. - Look at the hinges — there should be at least three. Now that you know what to check for, you can look around your surroundings to be sure that you are safe. For those of you living in areas of extreme heat, consider checking these things on your home! 👉Weather Stripping. Ensure that weather stripping around doors and windows is intact and not deteriorating. Hot weather can cause it to become brittle or worn out, leading to air leaks and reduced energy efficiency. 👉Warping. Doors and window frames, particularly those made of wood, can warp due to extreme heat. Check for any signs of warping or misalignment that could affect operation and address them promptly. 👉Check for Drafts: Hot weather can exacerbate drafts if seals are compromised. Check for any drafts around doors and windows and address them to maintain energy efficiency! And lastly, to lower temperatures in rooms with lots of sunlight, consider using window films or tints to reduce heat gain and glare! #uts #warrantymanagement #warrantyservices #warrantyclaims #outsourcedwarranty #constructionwarranty #roofingwarranty #constructionindustry #constructionservices #constructionmanufacturers #roofingmanufacturers #buildingmaterials #buildingservices

#FirePreventionWeek - Heating is the second leading cause of home fires! As we approach the colder months, it’s crucial to stay safe and warm. Here are some essential tips: 🗞️ Keep a Safe Distance: Keep all flammables, like paper, clothing, bedding, drapes or rugs, at least 3 feet from a space heater, stove or fireplace. 🏠 Regular Maintenance: Have your heating equipment and chimneys cleaned and inspected annually by a professional. 🔥 Turn Off When Unattended: Never leave portable heaters and fireplaces unattended; turn off heaters and make sure fireplace embers are extinguished before leaving the room or going to bed. ✅ Use Equipment Properly: If you must use a space heater, place it on a level, nonflammable surface, like ceramic tile, not on a rug or carpet 🐈 Keep children and pets away from space heaters 🛒 When buying a space heater, look for models that shut off automatically if the heater falls over Stay safe and warm this winter!
