Peter Kaufman, CEO of Glenair, challenges conventional wisdom. He argues that a "balanced network" - not just work-life balance - drives both personal well-being AND business success. But here's where it gets interesting: 1. Kaufman claims volunteering isn't just charity - it's a secret weapon for developing leadership skills. Are we undervaluing community involvement in our career paths?  2. He advocates for "non-transactional relationships" as the highest priority. Are we missing the forest for the trees in our hyperconnected, networking-obsessed world?  3. Glenair's no-layoff policy flies in the face of traditional corporate strategy. Is this sustainable in today's cutthroat market, or is it the key to long-term success?  4. Kaufman's "Five Aces" for money managers include "operating in an uncrowded space." In CRE, where are these uncrowded spaces? Are we all chasing the same deals?  5. "Where there is mystery, there is margin." Provocative statement. But in an age of data and transparency, is there still room for mystery in CRE?  6. He advocates for "non-numeric, people-based goals."
