J Coffey Group hits a milestone of surpassing a £200m turnover following last years record revenue of £218m driven by a data center project. Despite a slight increase in margins to 3.4%, it still falls short of the pre-pandemic performance average of 7%. With a focus on substructure, superstructure, and structural alterations, the business, led by founder James Coffey as chairman, diversified under an MBO three years ago. Employing approximately 262 staff, the J Coffey Group operates across seven divisions, including #subcontracting, main contracting, #rail and #infrastructure, and European data centers. Recently, the addition of a Fire Protection Division aims to provide specialized passive fire protection services to clients. Group managing director Eddie Barrett highlights industry challenges, such as rising labor and materials costs impacting project margins. Despite these challenges, the company maintains a strong order book and pipeline, prioritizing growth in infrastructure, data centers, and structural alterations. Improved trading has bolstered the firm's cash reserves, with cash at bank doubling to nearly £12m, securing a net cash position at year-end.
