Limestone Plaster: A Breath of Fresh Air for You and the Planet Limestone plaster offers a unique blend of benefits for both human well-being and the environment. Here's why it's gaining traction as a sustainable building material: 1. Breathable Walls: Unlike conventional plaster, limestone plaster is naturally vapor-permeable. This allows walls to breathe, regulating indoor humidity and preventing moisture build-up. This reduces the risk of mold growth, a common respiratory irritant. 2. Improved Air Quality: Limestone plaster is free of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) found in many synthetic materials. #VOCs can off-gas harmful chemicals, impacting indoor air quality. By avoiding them, limestone plaster promotes a #healthier living environment. 3. Low #Carbon Footprint: Production of limestone plaster requires minimal energy and releases minimal CO2. Additionally, as it cures, it actually absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, acting as a carbon sink. 4. #Natural and #Sustainable: Made from readily available limestone, water, and aggregates, limestone plaster is a #renewable resource. It's also fully #biodegradable at the end of its lifespan. 5. Durable and Long-lasting: Historic buildings showcase the impressive longevity of limestone plaster. This translates to less frequent replacements and reduced construction waste. Overall, #limestone plaster contributes to a healthier indoor #environment for occupants while minimizing environmental impact. It's a win-win for #well-being and #sustainability. Rohith Sringeri

We have reached a significant conclusion after two years of extensive research and development focused on construction materials, furnishings, and flooring. For decades, wood has been the primary material used in construction, leading to a depletion of forests due to the manufacturing of 15 plywood boards from a single tree. This environmental concern has prompted us to find a solution. Additionally, the staggering global volume of plastic waste generated annually could cover the entire Earth with a single layer. To address both of these issues, we have developed a new material called WOODFREE PLY (WEP) made from LDPE (Low-Density Polythene). WEP is a durable, sustainable, strong, and lightweight alternative to traditional wood plyboard, which is heavily consumed on construction sites & Highly Corrosive Areas.

Eco-friendly alternatives are paving the way for a greener future, trying to substitute traditional construction materials. Here’s a quick look at some examples: Traditional (concrete, steel, brick, fiberglass insulation) vs. Eco-Friendly solutions (hempcrete, bamboo, rammed earth, sheep’s wool insulation) 1. Concrete vs. Hempcrete - Concrete: High carbon footprint due to cement production, and very water intensive - Hempcrete: Made from hemp, a renewable plant resource; absorbs CO₂ during growth, making it carbon-negative, with interesting insulation properties ! 2. Steel vs. Bamboo - Steel: High carbon footprint, and capex-intensive to produce - Bamboo: Grow very quickly, and faster than traditional timber. Resistant & with low environmental impact 3. Brick vs. Rammed Earth - Brick: Requires energy-intensive firing in kilns, contributing to CO₂ emissions. - Rammed Earth: Made from compacted materials, it uses local, abundant raw materials (earth, chalk, lime, or gravel) with low energy requirements for production and natural thermal insulation. 4. Fiberglass Insulation vs. Sheep’s Wool Insulation - Fiberglass Insulation: Made from mined and processed materials, which require high energy use. - Sheep’s Wool Insulation: Naturally renewable, biodegradable, and has a lower environmental impact; also provides better moisture regulation in buildings. Imagine the impact we can make by shifting to materials that are better for the planet and equally durable. Let’s build smarter, greener, and with the future in mind! #sustainability #BuildingMaterials

A favorite publication of ours, and for good reason! An excellent article about PVC (vinyl) in the built environment. We highly recommend reading this if you have ever considered using this material and do not know the health and environmental risk that comes along with it. "Indeed, the building and construction industry is the second-largest consumer of plastics in the world, none of which have an unblemished track record of manufacturing, most of which don’t have an easy path to circularity, and the majority of which still rely on a resource that is warming our atmosphere to dangerous levels as it is being used up."
