An important way of implication in conect4children for PEDSTART is the co-animation of the National Hub Forum!
🌐When working together with so many different people and organisations worldwide, it’s important to properly connect! That is why the national hub forum (NHF) was established, to make the mission and objectives of #c4c a concrete reality, i.e. to really connect for children! The NHF meetings take place virtually once a month and face-to-face at least once a year. The latest advances of the c4c work are being discussed and upcoming projects as well as ideas, visions, and projects are being exchanged 🤝 To learn more about the NHF, visit our webpage! https://lnkd.in/eTMhHPSZ Ricardo Fernandes Régis Hankard #PaediatricResearch

CIHT are excited to announce the launch of the report, Creating a public realm for all. This report should be used by transport professionals to help them identify and design the public realm for the everyday challenges faced by some people. The report highlights some of the barriers that people face when using the public realm and suggests guidance documents that could be used to help design solutions to the issues experienced. https://lnkd.in/en7aqRrF

On September 21st, the world marked the International Day of Peace. As we reflect on this year's theme, “Cultivating a Culture of Peace”, it is also time to reflect on how the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) contribute to the agenda of Peace and why it is crucial to invest in the CCIs. CCIs play a vital role in reducing crime rates and self-destructive behaviors by providing positive outlets for self-expression, engaging people, and strengthening community ties. Participation in cultural activities and creative programs can divert individuals, especially youth, from negative influences or risky behaviors and can deter criminal behavior by offering constructive alternatives to personal development. Through arts education, mentorship programs, and community projects, CCIs help develop skills, build self-esteem, and create a sense of belonging, all of which contribute to safer neighborhoods. Investing in CCIs can support crime prevention initiatives by funding after-school arts programs, community centers, and public art projects. These initiatives can engage at-risk youth, provide constructive activities, and encourage a sense of pride and ownership in their communities. Call to Action: Get involved in local cultural programs that support crime prevention and advocate for funding that includes creative initiatives aimed at reducing crime. Urge your government to invest in CCIs to encourage safer communities. By allocating at least 1% of the budget to the arts and culture sectors, we can enhance constructive efforts and create peaceful, and safer communities. #1PercentForCulture #Peacebuilding #World Peace Day Picture : Internet

When you book to go somewhere, wouldn't it be awesome if the very act of buying your tickets or planning your trip triggered disability awareness training at the venue you were visiting.. and how much better would the entire experience be if you could also add in any specific information you wanted staff to be aware of like what you wanted to buy or do, or something relevant to your specific needs, like a preferred communication method? I'm fully aware that there are LOADS of folks out there in the world talking about how much better things would be if solutions to problems existed.. but this isn't a dream. This is reality. This solution is available now directly through participating venues websites via our amazing new 'web app widget', and is increasingly in use through every type of venue where people meet people. The example displayed is at Silverstone Museum, but here's some more.. Battersea Power Station https://lnkd.in/ey3w8iFm CREAGAN INN APPIN LTD https://lnkd.in/e89hrSVW THE VINDOLANDA TRUST - Roman Fort https://lnkd.in/dhPPJCvk Whitelee Windfarm https://lnkd.in/eCEUyEEt CV Life - The Wave https://lnkd.in/e5a79VsP ..or even an MP or MSP Constituency office. Alexander Burnett https://lnkd.in/dBFQhveA Wherever people meet people. A brief Q and A. Q. "This is such a great idea there MUST be loads of companies offering this service!" A. "No, remarkably WelcoMe is still the only company in the UK offering proximity based disability awareness training." Q. "It must cost a fortune?" A. "I think you will be AMAZED" (One hotel said, "Oh, we can take that out of our flower arranging budget". Q. "How long does it take to set up and train staff?" A. "We can have you set up by tomorrow morning." Q. "Yeah, it sounds amazing, but I bet you aren't available in the USA yet?" A. "Ahh, you've got me there, we arent, but it's only a matter of time." Q. "So who decides where you'll be next?" A. "You do, in fact we encourage people to let us know where they want to see us next." We are so proud to have created this remarkable solution and much more than that we are super proud of the destinations who have seen the potential and signed up already. With it we are changing disability awareness amongst staff and giving those who might not be comfortable leaving home reasons to feel more confident. We are so keen to hear from others who want to join us and looking forward to hearing from you by DM or when you tag venues and folks you feel need to know about this service below. Thank you all so much for engaging. “Accessibility for all people should be innate within any event.” We couldn't agree more - and this success story from The National Federation of the Blind serves as a critical reminder of that. We're so proud to help organizations like NFB better engage their attendees and further their mission. https://okt.to/LQoApS #Accessibility #CustomerSuccess #A11y #AccessibilityMatters

Today, September 30th, marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day is dedicated to recognizing and honouring the Indigenous children who were lost to residential schools, the survivors, their families, and the communities affected by these historic injustices. At Meraki, this day serves as a reminder of our collective responsibility to engage in a lifelong journey of learning, unlearning, and taking genuine steps toward healing and reconciliation. In observance, our offices and job sites will be closed as we reflect and participate in activities that promote awareness and understanding. Our commitment to our Truth and Reconciliation Action Plan guides us in reconciliation, strengthening relationships with First Nations, and building a better future. Rooted in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), our T-RAP is founded on a five-pillar approach that impacts every aspect of our work. We invite you to explore our Truth and Reconciliation Action Plan and hold us accountable to our commitments: https://lnkd.in/g7w9znCw #TruthAndReconciliation #OrangeShirtDay #NDTR
