See what project funder, Global Affairs Canada's (GAC's) final evaluation report had to say about the efficiency of the recent project I led at MEDA. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve. Excerpts below "The WAY project is viewed by staff, community members, partners and community-based businesses as having been extremely well-organized – particularly after the initial period of a year or more when it had trouble gaining traction. Its implementation is seen as positively influenced by dynamic leadership, with a strong vision, where the project manager made excellent use of local resources – both human and institutional, and translated the original intentions of the project well within the local context with meaning given to the project components and good use made of all opportunities. WAY management ensured the project structure was fit for purpose and made effective use of the financial resources in turbulent economic times, including the change in the value of the Naira and high inflation, and took advantage of the lull in activities during the Covid pandemic and the opportunity of a no cost extension. Its efficiency was increased by the fact that the project was very effective in its work and steered away from aiming its sights low. Respondents said the project delivered more outputs and outcomes than expected. The project stayed within budget and exceeded its targets related to the key indicators attached to the project’s Intermediate and Immediate Outcomes. It was noted that the project met or exceeded its targets by Year 5 and exceeded revised targets as well. The findings of this final evaluation confirmed results reported by the WAY project."
