When Covid arrived, being a global keynote speaker suddenly didn't appear to be such a desirable profession. "Pivot" became the business word du jour, so, like many others, I did, and went virtual. However, initially it was hard. Live events allow you to "read a room" and build relationships, but to do that over a video call takes a big, conscious effort - and a lot of extra energy; it was a steep learning curve. Change takes effort but the advantages are apparent. With our new ways of working, Iet's celebrate the opportunities virtual events can bring: 🌎 Wide geographic spread 🏠 Inclusion for hybrid teams 🎥 Recordable events that can be referenced and re-purposed 🎬 Using recordings when it's difficult to schedule events for the whole team/workforce 🖥 Using tech to provide transcripts and sub-titles 🎤 Developing video technology...... Still using a "low-tech" stand for my laptop though to ensure the correct eye level! Some things don't change! Lovely feedback from a virtual session earlier this week. 🏢 🏗 Guess what? - I am back in New York City to attend Zoom Perspectives, an analyst gathering hosted by Zoom. 🏛 🏨 And this time, I am in a new role as Chief Analyst and Founder of Collab Collective Insights and Strategy. Yes, most of our members (80% to be exact) use Zoom for their webinars / virtual events - it's easy to use, attendees are familiar with it, and a lot of companies already use it internally. However, some other tools got mentions, including Goldcast, Livestorm, and Google Meet. Some have even mentioned that they've started to see BlueJeans by Verizon and Slack pop up in the conversation.
