It’s thankful Thursday…so grateful for the repeat order from Outdoor Lab Foundation of Colorado. They reached out to us knowing that our products would be a perfect fit for their kids coming to the program. Today is our #Meals4AllNY Social Media Day of Action in honor of National School Lunch Week! Thanks to major state investments, 350K additional NY students returned to school this fall with access to free school meals, no questions asked. More New York schools than ever are now offering universal free school meals. But there's still work to do: thousands of students continue to be means-tested for school meals. We know that when school meals aren't available free for all, the kids who need them most choose not to eat. School meals are an essential school supply-- just like textbooks, desks and school-issued technology-- one that every student should be entitled to. That's why I stand with my colleagues at Hunger Solutions New York in urging Governor Hochul to make New York the next state to provide universal free school meals statewide. You can help! National School Food Program   Advocacy often feels like an uphill battle, requiring years or even decades of effort to achieve meaningful change. Yet, with a mix of stubbornness, persistence, strategic planning, and sometimes a little luck from the political context and national challenges, impactful results are possible. Successes may come quickly or slowly, varying with each campaign's context.   This past week, we witnessed the announcement of a National School Food Program—a milestone long in the making. This achievement is the result of the collective effort of numerous individuals and organizations, including our own. It's a powerful reminder that while major victories can take time, it's important to celebrate the small wins along the journey.   One of the most effective strategies in advocacy is to build coalitions, amplifying our voices by uniting them and championing our causes together. This recent advocacy success story perfectly illustrates the power of collective action and the importance of perseverance in driving change.   So here's to perseverance and making a difference in the world!

Each day of the series we "broke ground" on new ideas and practices with a diverse lineup of Maricopa County-based speakers from the Arizona Farm to School Network. Sessions featured insights from teachers, school food service directors, UA Extension representatives, and community educators, all dedicated to strengthening connections between farms, schools, and communities. We're excited to share the recordings of these presentations with you. Let's think through advocacy programs. Many orgs are leaning into advocacy right now, which makes sense. When you think about it, it's more so just tapping into customers who care and are so bought in that they want to share how your tool is helping them. (a lot of cooler tech folks call these evangelists) When you think about building advocacy programs, there are a few key things to consider: 👉 What value are you bringing to this customers life? 👉 How big are your asks? 👉 How will you streamline your internal AND external processes to make it as easy as possible for every person involved? 👉Why? Why are you doing this program to start off with? What are we wanting to accomplish? From there, you basically have the core of your program completed, then it's all about how you implement and activate it! What else do you think are key considerations?

Many people questioned why I and many others spent so much time working on the development of the EduSpots network over 💃 🥂 or making💰. It was because we could see the direct outcomes of the effort put in, and the significance of the change being created by and for remarkable human beings. We feel proud to share these output statistics from the last quarter in EduSpots - all driven through a 100% volunteer-driven model at the community level and a relatively low (streamlined!) organisational budget. And how do we achieve this? By bringing people together who are genuinely committed to a vision of enabling communities to come together to create the futures they want to see through education. Through investing in the development and growth of a network of 300 local Changemakers, believing in their potential to be social leaders regardless of their education experience, profession or age. The responsibility for change genuinely lies with the communities themselves, who have all played a pivotal role in the development of our model and grassroots network. 📈 We are looking forward to sharing the growth in the next quarter, and sharing further details on outcomes and evidence of impact at the end of 2024! 🥂 Kudos to all the Catalysts in EduSpots, whose efforts this reflects. A reflection on what children teach us 🌍💭 Today is Kinderwelttag—World Children's Day—a day that holds a special place in my heart. It’s a reminder of why I do what I do and why supporting families and children is at the core of my mission. But it’s not about today, it is about forever. Reflecting on, I’m reminded of the countless lessons children teach us every day: resilience, curiosity, and the power of simply being present. As someone deeply committed to supporting families, I see firsthand how important it is to create environments where kids can thrive, explore, and just be kids. I often think about my own experiences and the dreams I have for the next generation—a world where every child feels seen, heard, and valued. This is what drives me in my work: creating solutions that help families build healthier, happier lives. Forever, let’s commit to: - Listening more closely to our children, because they have so much to teach us about the world.
