Getting design feedback from suppliers today looks something like this: 👉 Get file package ready (PDF, CAD screenshots, PowerPoint, maybe even a STP file) 👉 Send file package via Sharepoint, OneDrive or email 👉 Schedule a meeting 👉 Get feedback from supplier during the meeting 👉 Resolve feedback and start the whole process over again When we talk to engineering leaders about this, they come back with the same response: "We just need to make this process more efficient." This thought is a red herring. It distracts from the underlying problem. The process was never effective at what it was meant to do and therefore it cannot be made more efficient. How do we know it isn't effective? Because 250 engineering leaders told us so. In fact, they cite the following downstream problems as direct correlations to supplier miscommunication: ❌ Product development delays ❌ Long lead times ❌ Unbudgeted costs ❌ Recurring quality issues ❌ High cost of goods impacting gross margins The solution is simple -- it's just not easy. You need a way to get suppliers into designs: ✅ With less friction ✅ In real-time ✅ In a way where they can leave feedback on their own time ✅ Where all feedback gets tracked automatically and sent to the OEM/customer You know, something like this 👇

For example, the PDM should provide intelligent data synchronization to keep the network load low. PDM Studio is the perfect solution for that. It enables employees to work quickly and efficiently from remote, even with large data volumes, and to collaborate smoothly with colleagues or external service providers. The result: No more sleep while working from home 😊 Find out more about our solution PDM Studio: https://bit.ly/3Xrzx2a #pdmstudio #pdm #productdatamanagement

Let me guess: the way you complete a design review checklist is something like this: 👉 Open up spreadsheet checklist 👉 Open up design review PowerPoint, or if you're really fancy, a free CAD viewer 👉 Back to spreadsheet to check item 1 👉 Back to PowerPoint to pass/fail item 1 👉 Back to spreadsheet for item 2 ... You get the picture. The problem is: engineering teams live with this. Because the problem doesn't feel important enough to solve. But, then when we dive into the data we see some troubling trends: ❌ 43% of all design feedback is lost and never documented ❌ Engineers spend nearly a quarter of their time on non-value add work ❌ 90% of companies delay product launches due to late stage design changes These stats all point to a simple correlation: the way teams are conducting design reviews isn't working. And this right here -- attaching a checklist in the context of the model -- is just the beginning of how teams can transform their design review process. And then launch better products faster. #engineeringdesignreview

🤔 Are you still sending design review file packages over email? ✏️ How about doing markup on PowerPoint slides? 🗣️ Using meetings as the primary method to generate design issues? It's easy to tolerate these problems because they don't seem big enough. Emailing files, doing markup on screenshots, planning lots of meetings — taken alone these seem fairly innocent... if annoying. However, the best engineering companies today notice a trend. 🔷 Unsecure email file attachments = Loss of critical IP and file version control 🔷 CAD screenshot markups buried in slides = Loss of essential design decision-making and follow-up 🔷 Meetings as the vehicle for design review = Expert opinions left uncaptured So, instead of living with their design review problem, they do something about it. They change it. Join us tomorrow to learn how two enterprise engineering teams are transforming design review in 2024! Registration link in comments! 👇
