International Coffee Partners’ Post

📢 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐄𝐔𝐃𝐑 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫! We welcome the European Union's decision to extend the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) implementation timeline by 12 months. This provides essential breathing room for stakeholders - especially smallholder coffee farmers, who produce up to 80% of the world's coffee. The EUDR, which aims to protect global forests by ensuring key goods entering the EU market are free from deforestation, shall now be enforced for large companies starting on December 30, 2025, and for micro- and small enterprises on June 30, 2026. While the timeline adjustment is a step in the right direction, time alone isn't enough. To ensure a just and successful transition to deforestation-free coffee supply chains, critical support in three key areas is essential: ·      Financial Assistance – Funding for traceability systems and sustainable farming practices. ·      Capacity Development – Training programs to help farmers meet regulatory requirements. ·      Technical Infrastructure – Investment in geodata tools and infrastructure. 🌍We are committed to empowering coffee farming families to improve livelihoods, enhance climate resilience, and adapt to evolving market standards. Sustainable practices are the foundation of aligning with new regulations like the EUDR while fostering long-term economic stability.
