RNA (oligos) on a roll... The field saw Roche partner with Ascidian earlier this week for their (DNA) oligo therapies to RNA editing. Now we have Silence Therapeutics announcing positive data for zerlasiran (an siRNA) in silencing lipoprotein(a). Silence saw a significant reduction in Lp(a) vs. placebo out to 48 weeks. This was in addition to the data they released back in March. The cardiovascular space is red-hot. You have a number of other candidates in development for the same indication, including Amgen's olpasiran (licensed by Arrowhead Pharma - who also previously sold some royalty rights to Royalty Pharma at the end of 2022). You had Ionis similarly sell rights to Royalty Pharma for their Ph3 asset, Pelacarsen (an ASO). There are other, related indications around high triglycerides (inclisiran the first approved therapy there), such as Arrowhead Pharma's plozasiran, which targets Apolipoprotein-CIII. So the TLDR: Oligos are red-hot. They've demonstrated their commercial success and now its about turning the crank.
