Closing a workshop on a note of gratitude and celebration not only marks the conclusion of a session but also solidifies the connections and accomplishments shared among participants. Implementing a group gratitude exercise, where individuals express appreciation for one another, creates a powerful sense of community and collective achievement. Similarly, gallery walks celebrate the collaborative effort, allowing participants to reflect on the journey and the outcomes of their work together. These practices underscore the importance of ending workshops not just with reflection, but with a celebration of the progress made and the relationships built. It’s a reminder that the value of our gatherings lies not only in the knowledge shared but in the appreciation and recognition of each other's contributions. #FacilitationSkills #Gratitude #WorkshopClosure

In our world today that is constantly on-the-go, check that item off the list, what’s next, never giving ourselves permission to slow down and step back and reflect, we tend to forget about the simple idea of hospitality. I would bet that most who are reading this are in a position of working with humans, and at least part of your role lies in service to a group of people. As someone who is always striving to make sure our #philanthropists see and understand the impact of their giving, feel recognized, and ultimately make that next gift, this book was a home run. While it centers around the restaurant industry, I found so many ways I could apply the principles of #UnreasonableHospitality to my work in #gratitude and #donorrelations. One of my favorites was the creation of a new position called the “Dreamweaver.” Will Guidara and his team took a next-level approach to leveling up their guests’ experiences. And they didn’t have to cost a lot of money - but they had to be unique and tailored to the person/group. For example, the group of four who were overheard discussing the “ethics of the Tooth Fairy” and as each of them went to the restroom, they would find a quarter under their folded napkin upon their return. It’s all about #listening, #anticipating, and #creativity. It is also about giving the team autonomy to do these things. I’m here for all of this. If you haven’t already, pick this one up and give it a read. I hope it fills you with as much inspiration as it did me. (Shoutout to my fave fellow reader Tina for the recommendation!)
