One of my favorite quotes, which I don't know the origin or exact original wording of, is, "We judge ourselves by our own best intentions. Others judge us by our worst actions." Even if that quote isn't true in all cases, in part because sometimes we're overly harsh on ourselves rather than too sanguine, I think it's a good reminder to be aware about how we formulate our self-image and about the certainty that our self-image will diverge from what others see. In any event, that's the spirit in which I finally did the dang LinkedIn Rewind thing. How would the machine summarize my year as opposed to how I'd summarize it -- even if I limited myself (somehow) to what I had written on LinkedIn? 🌎 One object lesson: Be mindful about what I put on LinkedIn *globally*. What am I posting about and in what proportions and what am I not posting about? It's a useful heuristic to think about that concept we all love, hate, or both...our brand. ⚖️ Overall, the main AI summary is plausible. I DID end up talking a lot about inclusive spaces this year. Fair enough that it was given primacy. (That was by virtue of being identified as my "superpower," which, sure, I'll go with that label. And, to potential future clients: progress has been made on using space to embody and drive inclusion but we are nowhere near evolved enough. I help with that in targeted, MEASURABLE ways that will make you and your organization stand out. DM if you want to hear about the methodology I use for this.) 👏 And I'm thrilled that the AI picked up on something I try to repeat often. See my Top Quote for that. HECK YES. Ensuring we have the correct mental model of what universities and colleges are is one way we can become student-centered in how we design spaces, technology, and processes. It also promotes the empiricism that is sometimes lacking, a great growth area for institutions. 🤷♂️ I'm not listing the suggested post that the AI came up with. It wasn't totally off -- yes, institutional-level strategy about VR and AR in teaching is something I co-presented on, probably commented on, and will continue to do going forward -- including a cool workshop option derived from the presentation I did at Tradeline, Inc. with Dan Munnerley of ASU Next Lab. 🍄 But it also had at least one hallucination -- I posted about something I saw but it gave me credit for having designed what I merely observed and celebrated. Namely, prominent signage for a lactation room at Rowan University, which I noticed when I was on campus as part of campus master plan stakeholder engagement sessions. 🎤 And, finally, because I don't mention specific clients just out of discretion -- not because they're always secret -- the summary talks more about speaking/writing and less about my consulting with Co|Here Campus and Workplace. Such as the campus planning with a great client noted above. 😱 Oh, and the AI summary committed a major exclusion that will get its own post. Standby! #highered #workplace
