A while back, I decided to streamline my job application process. For the longest time, I was using a Google Sheet to track everything. But after so many applications, the color codes and cells became a little too much for visualizing anything useful. The dashboard solution I decided on was simple and free: Looker Studio. For me, the dashboard has been a game-changer, providing a clear and concise overview of all the applications I've submitted and the salary ranges I've targeted. It's also empowered me to track not just the quantity but the quality of my applications, highlighting which industries I'm focusing on and enabling me to easily monitor the progress of each application. But why am I sharing this? Because I believe in the power of organization in the job search process. In today's competitive job market, staying organized isn't just an option; it's necessary. It's also a reflection of who you are as an applicant. This dashboard has allowed me to maintain a strategic approach to my job search, ensuring I'm always aware of my next steps and how each application is moving along. For anyone navigating the job search maze, I highly recommend developing some form of tracker. Whether it's a simple Excel spreadsheet or a dashboard like the one I developed, the clarity and control it provides are immeasurable. Applying for jobs can be a daunting and labor-intensive process, but having a system in place significantly eases the burden.
