🎉 Wrapping up 2024 🎉
This year has been an incredible journey for CLT Toolbox. We’ve welcomed thousands of engineering users to the platform and proudly partnered with 17 supplier partners (on track to surpass 20 early next year!).
Our team has grown to 42 passionate individuals dedicated to building the highest-quality software for mass timber on a global scale. With 3-week release cycles and a revamped QA system, we’re reaching new heights in delivering reliable, innovative tools at a world class pace.
On the software front, we launched over 30 calculators this year (there’s just too many to list! 😅). These tools save structural engineers hundreds of hours, making the mass timber option more practical and accessible than ever.
We've also launched a free version of CLT Toolbox, enabling engineers or students who are new to timber, to jump in without barriers. Alongside this, we offer a Pro version with unlimited access to mass timber design tools and an Enterprise version, which provides firms with unlimited Pro licenses—both seeing significant adoption.
Thanks to the dedication of our amazing Team Toolbox, strong supply chain partnerships, and our growing, engaged user base, we’re thrilled about what lies ahead in 2025.
Thank you for your continued support, and here’s to an even bigger year ahead!
🎄 Merry Christmas, enjoy the break, and let’s dive into 2025 with a bang!
Hello everyone, I'm Adam Jones on this CEO CLT Toolbox. We build software to make massive accessible for every engineer around the world and accelerate the trend towards mass timber. I'm making a video as a summary of our 2024. Between now and 2050, we've got 2 decisions. Number one, we can do nothing. We warm up the planet, food scarcity, water scarcity, agricultural disruption and all sorts of problems. But we can do something different and that is cut our greenhouse gas emissions by 100%. Now, every industry is going to be part of this change, and that includes structural building materials that make up. 11% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions. Now, Timbers got a massive role to play here. It's renewable. We can grow our buildings just like we grow our food. And the sequesters carbon. The supply chain begins with a chemical reaction that literally just sucks CO2 out of the atmosphere and creates a building product out of nothing. But in 2024, we've had hundreds and hundreds of conversations. And it turns out that it's not the easiest thing to design with when it comes to these new markets. And our goal is to help every engineer. And make it accessible for everyone. And in 2024, we're really proud that we've come a long way. So we launched a free version of our software into the ANZ, meaning any engineer in that region can design A prelim design of a mass timber building without a paywall and also for shootings. Any student in the region can also go out there and design with mass timber for their final year projects. And we're looking forward to do the same in Europe and in North America, not too far away. Our main value and our main goal is to grow. of mass timber and we wouldn't be around if it wasn't for our supply chain partners who shared our vision. Well, I focus on such a small pie when our market share is so small, when there is a 10X or 20X at the market share of the mass timber category. So we're all working together on the same objective to grow the pie and make it better for everyone. So Team Toolbox where all in on our mission to democratize the designer mass timber. We've got 7 instructional engineers in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We've got 17 software developers in Indonesia. We're just starting out our product management team in Serbia. We come from all sorts of religions and cultures and geographies, but we do share the same toolbox spirit that brings us together in our mission. And we obviously developed calculators, but I think the products that we're most proud of is not the calculators, but the product that builds the calculators. We call it the infrastructure factory. And just like timber suppliers, we measure our downtime, we have QA, we try and improve our bottlenecks. And our system that builds our software has improved a lot. In the middle of the year, it was taking us 90 days to do a software release. And then quite recently, we've brought this under 3 weeks. Painting every three weeks, we release new calculators, connections, design or member design that saves time for our clients, but also provides critical infrastructure for the design of these buildings. And 2025 is gonna begin with our launch into Europe with our nationally determined parameters for each region we've built in a scalable way, meaning we can solve for every country. We're going to be launching with languages. So Europe is going to have a free version that we're really excited to launch now in North America, USA and Canada. We're also going to be launching our beta. Program at the start of the year so stay tuned for the news that's gonna come there so on behalf of CLT Toolbox, we'd like to thank everyone who's been part of our journey this year. That includes every engineer who's been on our platform who shared feedback. Sometimes there's bugs, sometimes there's been a few issues, but we hope that we've actually responded really well and improving our software. At the end of the day we'd like to thank our partners because without the commitment from you, we wouldn't actually have a platform so we need our supplier partners and for you to actually list. Next to each other, traditionally competitors, it shows that the suppliers also share our vision of growing the pie of mass timber and that being the major focus. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, let's have a great break and come back into 2025 and accelerate the trend towards mass timber buildings.

Throughout 2024, we’ve had heaps of feedback on the floor calculator—the most popular on the CLT Toolbox platform.
Rather than just making small updates along the way, we decided to take a bigger leap and completely rebuild it from scratch. With the release of version 2.09, it’s finally out in the world.
What’s new?
- Default load combinations for gravity, live loads, wind, and snow—or you can customize them manually.
- 9 National Annexes to combine these loads with tailored options for more precision and compliance.
- Vibration methods including Hamm et al, Revised Eurocode, and FP Innovations, with flexible or rigid support options.
- Serviceability and strength design improvements.
- Supplier options where you can choose manually or select one of our partners.
- New educational features with improved dropdowns to make the learning experience better.
This calculator is free, so you can go to check it out on the CLT Toolbox app today!

Step 6: Sharing LCA methodology and templates with the public 🌱 🌍
As promised we are now publishing our guidelines for conducting LCAs in the IT industry. In the first course we will share how you create a goal and scope for your LCA study and what type of in data should be collected and how it can be stored in your operating systems.
The methodology we are sharing is following the ISO 14001-14067 standards for Conducting LCAs. In the course we will show how to import the data from your LCI to your preferred LCA software (in our case we are using SimaPro).

How do you avoid risks in board and paper machine rebuild projects?
Getting a board or paper machine rebuild right comes down to good preparation, skilled engineering and having the experience to know what to look out for. Even so, every rebuild is unique and problems can still arise in areas that were never considered risks. The more you know about your machine before the rebuild, the fewer risks there will be.
We have listed several common Do’s and Don’ts in our downloadable rebuild guidebook, which will help you minimize risks in rebuild projects.
