Hello everyone! I'm excited to share the highlights from Day 2 of my cloud computing course with Digital Witch. The day was filled with in-depth discussions on several key aspects of cloud computing, particularly around its various types and models. We began by exploring the different types of cloud computing deployment models: Private, Public, Hybrid, and Multi-cloud. Each of these models was thoroughly explained, detailing how they cater to different business needs and requirements. For instance, the Private Cloud offers exclusive access for a single organization, while the Public Cloud is accessible to multiple users. The Hybrid Cloud combines both private and public resources, and the Multi-cloud approach involves using services from multiple cloud providers. We also covered the cloud service models, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), Functions as a Service (FaaS), and Containers as a Service (CaaS), discussing their distinct functionalities and use cases. Additionally, we examined the global locations of data centers for major cloud providers like Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, and Azure. A significant focus was given to the RACKCENTRE in Lagos, Nigeria, where we delved into its functions, business model, and role in local data residency and sovereignty. The session also covered key networking concepts such as Network Bandwidth, Latency, and Network Performance, with discussions on determining network bandwidth in on-premises setups. We also explored the inner workings of data centers, including a detailed look at a rack’s diagram and the anatomy of a data center, highlighting their power distribution systems and key characteristics. In a nutshell, Day 2 was an enlightening experience, deepening our understanding of both the technical and operational aspects of cloud computing infrastructure. #CloudComputing #DigitalTransformation #DataCenter #CloudDeployment #HybridCloud #MultiCloud #PrivateCloud #PublicCloud #NetworkPerformance #InfrastructureAsAService #PlatformAsAService #SoftwareAsAService #FunctionsAsAService #ContainersAsAService #DataResidency #DataSovereignty #Networking #RackCentre #Azure #AWS #GoogleCloud

Why Africa Needs Local Cloud Providers... The common argument against local cloud is that the big cloud providers have expertise that we lack. This is simply not true. People built and managed their own servers before ‘cloudʼ was a thing. These experts are still around. There is no “patentˮ on cloud knowledge owned by a few. Africa can also buy, develop, train, and own the same expertise. In this article, I explain why local cloud is pivotal to the "Built here, Built better" era that Africa has entered. Shouts out to Fara Ashiru Székely Zoltán Bodunrin Akinola ebun okubanjo and Henry Nneji for helping with this article. Read the full article on Nairametrics. https://lnkd.in/d5SwSFrW

Public Cloud Services We routinely hear from end users that the offerings for professional services regarding public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) are limited. Most vendors who play in this space want you to buy a managed service with a high residual cost. The public cloud vendors also charge an arm and a leg by the hour for their pro serv. As a result, we're filling a gap in our marketplace. We now offer professional services for AWS, Azure and GCP in the following procurement methods: -Fixed Fee with a highly defined scope of work -Bucket of Hours for general engineering engagements -Billable Hours for ongoing service You tell us how you want to consume it, and it shall be so. You'll be assigned a pod of senior cloud architects with a technical lead to run the engagement. White Oak Solutions #publiccloud #aws #azurecloud #gcp #gcpcloud #hyperscale #infrastructure

As cloud computing continues to take over the tech scene several people ponder and ask; “Why AWS? And out of all the cloud service providers, which one is the best?” There are many reasons that AWS has become a favorite among all resources: Go-to provider: Created the cloud and has the biggest chunk of the market. Comprehensive Service Suite: With more than 200 such services, almost every aspect of cloud computing is fulfilled by the company. Worldwide Network: Too many availability zones in too many countries provides room for low latency everywhere in the world. Scalability: Whether startup or big corporate, AWS is stretchy very well. Innovation: Continually bringing in additional services and products. All the same, the “best” provider is relative: • When it comes to hybrid cloud and cloud based Microsoft systems, Azure is the best option available. • In terms of machine learning and data analytics, GCP is the best version. • In the enterprise and open source area, IBMs offering is comparatively stronger. • People using Oracle databases will not have issues using Oracle Cloud. As a result, the appropriate selection is dependent on your business, tech stack and growth outlook. For this reason, most people tend to this multi-cloud strategy. What is the benefit of using one cloud provider more than another according to your experience? Which one fits you the most? #CloudComputing #AWS #Azure #GCP #TechTrends
