Interesting recent update here across the certification landscape as B Corp is evolving the standards of which they assess their clients. As a result of the decision, B Lab is now moving to change its current standards “to include rigorous due diligence requirements for human rights and environmental impact”. This follows from other certified businesses taking action and complaining directly to B Corp about standards being applied to other organisations. https://lnkd.in/e8xyTbqi #Sustainability #ESG #Climate #Impact #Sustainabilitynews #ESGnews #Climatenews #News #Updates #Bcorp #Environment #Social #Governance

The recent events at Ecochallenge.org have been nothing short of remarkable. From the addition of expert Lauren Watkins, Ph.D. to the team, commemorating our 30th Anniversary, to hosting the annual Peoples Ecochallenge, and participating in the AASHE conference, the organization has been unwavering in its mission-driven work. Amidst the seasonal and political shifts, it has been heartening to witness dedication to environmental action across various voices. According to a recent article citing a new poll, a significant majority of U.S. adults, spanning both Democrats and Republicans, emphasize the importance of companies continuing their sustainability endeavors irrespective of political transitions or election outcomes, as highlighted by 3BL and Glow. We see evidence of this in the partners, clients and people we work with, and it's inspiring. At Ecochallenge.org, we understand the strength of individual actions and the collective impact they can have when combined. With a majority of the U.S. populace showing concern for climate action, we are committed to facilitating a more achievable and enjoyable path towards a sustainable world. If you are part of an organization that promotes involvement in green teams or employee resource groups, consider joining in and advocating for the introduction of our programs to your peers. The potential impact you can create is endless, and the journey to connect the dots begins with a simple step forward.

I'm so so unapologetically proud of this 👇🏿 🥰 ... Back when my advisors (Daljit Bhurji, Claire Quansah, Adrian Ma, Kristian Hoareau Foged 💭 and Julian Obubo) and I were debating themes for the first in-person Pros Conference in five years, we spent quite a bit of time wrestling with 'Make Comms Great Again'. We knew the conference would follow an important election and discussed the possible risks. For example, would people think we were not taking the threats of Project 25 seriously? But eventually we doubled down. We concluded - with confidence - that anyone who's followed bmeprpros.co.uk would know where we were coming from. And I'm so, so glad we did. Why? Because just a day after the US election result was won by the anti-DEI MAGA climate denier, it feels super important (and kinda subversive) to run this 👇🏿 session in particular. The title? #ClimateTooWhite #ClimateTooMiddleClass: How to Diversify Climate Comms The panelists? Four incredible women of colour doing the work (and with the receipts to show for it! 🧾 💅🏿 🥰): ⭐ Namrata Acharya, Journalist & Researcher, City, University of London ⭐ Einass Bakhiet, Environmental Advocate ⭐ Rabina Khan, Journalist & Communities Advisor ⭐ Rosie Ngugi, Diversity, Inclusion & Anti-Racism Lead, Greenpeace UK The chair? ⭐ Daljit Bhurji, CEO & Co-Founder, Diffusion PR As excited about this panel as I am? Of course you are! Want a ticket? Of course you do! You have just * 2️⃣ * weeks left to book your tickets! It will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions, and workshops delivered by a host of experts including journalists, content creators, activists and comms specialists. Confirmed speakers include Samira Ahmed, Joseph Harker, Marvyn Harrison, South Asian Heritage Month co-founders Dr. Binita Kane and Jasvir Singh CBE, and science-first content creator and musical artist, Big Manny. Are B Corps only about environmental impact? Let's clear up this misconception with insights from Sr. Manager Growth & Certification, Saskia Rotshuizen 👇 The B Corp certification is a holistic certification, evaluating much more than just environmental practices. It assesses five key impact areas: 1. Environment: How is your company prioritizing and taking care of the planet? 2. Governance: How do you make sure your company's governance considers all stakeholders? 3. Community: How is your company giving back and contributing positively to the community? 4. Workers: How is your company taking care of your workers, improving their lives and wellbeing? 5. Customers: How is you company having a positive impact on your customers' lives? In this series, experts from the B Lab Benelux team open ups about the greatest misconceptions about everything it means to be a B Corp. Are you ready to uncover the truth? Stay tuned for our next episode for a new special guest... #BCorp #BCorpcertification #sustainability #forceforgood #myth

Leading companies increasingly recognise the importance of policy engagement as a tool for enabling progress on their sustainability goals. As they develop detailed climate transition plans, companies are having to think through the extent to which their ability to achieve them is dependent on policy change. Having done this, the next step is to figure out way to help get relevant policies enacted and implemented. Since much corporate political influence happens via trade associations, ensuring associations actively promote aligned positions is vital.
