Why is data integration important? 🌊 🤷♀️ Integration involves combining diverse types of data from various sources into a unified system, enabling comprehensive analysis for better decision-making. This process is challenging due to: ➡ Heterogeneous data formats ➡ Different data structures and sources ➡ Data quality issues ➡ Scalability Nevertheless, despite these difficulties, successful data integration can significantly improve decision-making, operational efficiency, and data insights by gathering and integrating data from various sources in a way that makes it uniform, well-organised, and complete. These ‘integrated datasets’ allow for consistent, accurate, and thorough analysis, providing a full and clear picture of the information being studied. ⚜ At LandSeaLot we are actively creating links between research communities and reducing gaps in environmental observations via the deployment of new cost-effective sensors and citizen science participation, improved remote sensing, in situ data from river and marine sources and making it interoperable with existing in situ data and models. Our integrated data merges into existing EU aggregators such as EDITO - European Digital Twin Ocean, SeaDataNet, EMODnet, and Copernicus In Situ TAC, ultimately contributing to GEOSS and INSPIRE. 👉 Subscribe to our newsletter to stay informed about LandSeaLot’s work https://lnkd.in/eu3Y4iCR #Integration #DataManagement #LandSeaLot #OceanScience #CitizenScience #Sustainability #ClimateChange #MarineConservation #Data #Research #EU #MissionOcean #EUGreenDeal #Horizon EU debora bellafiore Romaric Verney Ifremer brest (dyneco) Ifremer CNR-ISMAR Institute of Marine Sciences Francisco Javier Campuzano anouk blauw Deltares +ATLANTIC

We’re thrilled to announce that constellr's #SkyBee1 (HiVE) is set to take its next big step toward launch. 🛰 After an intense series of tests, including a final "satellite optometrist" checkup, our twin-payload satellite is prepared to monitor the Earth in ways that will revolutionize agriculture and resource management. Equipped with two powerful cameras—one capturing thermal infrared and the other visible and near-infrared (VNIR)—SkyBee 1 will deliver cutting-edge, high-resolution and ultra-precise land surface temperature measurements. This data will be critical in detecting early signs of plant heat stress, optimizing irrigation, and saving billions of tons of water for global agriculture. 🌍💧 With the support of the European Space Agency’s #InCubed program*, we expect SkyBee 1 to lead the charge in our HiVE constellation, helping save 60 billion tons of water in the next 5 years and prevent 14 megatons of CO2 emissions. Not only will this have a significant environmental impact, but it will also deliver enormous value for farmers globally. 🚜🌱 Huge thanks to our partners at Kongsberg NanoAvionics and European Space Agency - ESA for supporting this journey to sustainable space-based solutions. *The view expressed herein can in no way be taken to reflect the official opinion of the European Space Agency. #technicalmilestone #companyupdate #opticaltesting #satellitehardware

I am in absolute awe of Max Gulde 🧑🏽🚀and the constellr 🚀team for what they continue to achieve. They embody the perfect blend of unbounded resilience, extraordinary vision, and bold execution. Above all, this serves as a powerful reminder of how spacetech is crucial in addressing some of Earth’s most pressing challenges 🌍. I remember meeting them as a group of PhDs, tirelessly working on their prototypes while raising their first funds to bring their vision to life. It takes time and craft to build things that get to space 🛰️ “Saving billions of tons of freshwater requires a sharp pair of eyes. 👀 Hence, a meeting with a satellite optometrist was one of the last tests before shipping constellr's satellite to the launch site. “With the support of the European Space Agency’s #InCubed program*, we expect SkyBee 1 to lead the charge in our HiVE constellation, helping save 60 billion tons of water in the next 5 years and prevent 14 megatons of CO2 emissions. Not only will this have a significant environmental impact, but it will also deliver enormous value for farmers globally. 🚜🌱” Big mention for Kongsberg NanoAvionics who built the satellites. From their post: “🛰️ SkyBee-1's twin payload consists of two cameras: 📷 One will see our world in the thermal infrared. 📷 The other in visible and near-infrared (VNIR). Combined, this unique platform will deliver high resolution (10 m GSD), high precision (1 K) land surface temperature measurements and detect heat stress in plants early on to prevent crop loss while saving water used for irrigation.” #forallmankind #humanity #future #earth #space #agriculture #climatechange #temperature #moonshots #earthshots #deeptech

#newarticle | The enhancement of EO technology is not merely a scientific endeavor: it’s a critical tool for informed decision-making across various sectors and applications. From monitoring environmental health and biodiversity to supporting national security initiatives, urban planning efforts, and disaster response operations, EO data provides invaluable insights that drive evidence-based decisions across the entire value chain. Yet collaboration between government agencies, research institutions, industry stakeholders, and international organizations must be leveraged to accelerate technological innovation, data sharing, and capacity-building efforts. A data-driven approach and collective learning are of paramount importance for the creation of a better world for future generations, writes Dr. Motoyuki Arai, Founder & CEO, Synspective Inc. How can the synergy between EO and AI be harnessed for societies and for promoting sustainable development in an increasingly interconnected world? #earthobservation #eodata #sustainability #data #technology #innovation #spacedata #biodiversity #urbanplanning #disasterresponse https://lnkd.in/g5H3BQxh

#GWF2024 | Opening the penultimate session of the National Mapping Summit with the famous quote, Nicholas Brown, Head of Office, United Nations Global Geodetic Centre of Excellence addressed how important technologies like the internet, power supply and satellite services have weaved seamlessly into our lives. He says: A Joint Development Plan for the Global Geodesy can address the weakness of the Global Geodesy Supply Chain. This plan will include activities for UN-GGCE, Member states and partners. Three main requirements to be focused on- 1. Stabilize the supply chain 2. Make it more Robust 3. Make it Next Gen. #GeospatialWorldForum2024 #supplychain #analytics #geodesy #technology #geospatial #data

We're very excited to announce our partnership with ACUA Ocean and Beneath The Waves to explore how remote sensing fused with field data from autonomous systems can help scale monitoring and protection operations in the Bahamas Blue Carbon Project Areas. An estimated $8-11bn is needed annually to increase the protection of coastal habitats to reach the 2030 global commitment of 30%. The coastal environment is dynamic and difficult to collect data from, and the methods today not only lack scalability, but the accuracy and standardisation required for high quality monitoring and meaningful upfront funding for conservation & restoration. Through this combined partnership, Ocean Ledger will work with Beneath the Waves and ACUA to time- and cost-effectively scale up the collection of field data. Deep scientific and technical expertise is required to efficiently and accurately combine satellite analytics, machine learning, and cloud computing to generate high-resolution ecosystem maps, insights on ecosystem integrity & connectivity, locate hotspots of degradation and high ecosystem service provisioning (carbon and biodiversity), while tracking these changes over time. We're thrilled to be working closely with these leading ocean innovators. #bluecarbon #MRV #oceantech #marinemonitoring #conservation
