🚀 New Episode Alert: Underdawg Talk with Robin Coleman! 🎙️ I'm excited to share the latest episode of Underdawg Talk, where I had the privilege of speaking with the incredible Robin Coleman, a registered nurse and mental health advocate. Our conversation was rich with insights, and I wanted to highlight three key takeaways that resonated deeply with me: The Power of Lived Experience: Robin's journey is a testament to the strength that comes from overcoming personal trauma. She shared her experiences with child sexual trauma and domestic violence, emphasizing how these challenges shaped her passion for mental health advocacy. This reminds us that our struggles can fuel our purpose, and by sharing our stories, we can empower others to navigate their challenges. Breaking the Cycle of Silence: In our discussion, we touched on the cultural stigma surrounding mental health in the Black community. Robin highlighted how many families are taught to keep their struggles private, which can perpetuate cycles of trauma. We must create safe spaces for open conversations about mental health, allowing individuals to express their feelings and seek help without fear of judgment. By doing so, we can dismantle these barriers and foster healing. Innovation in Community Health: Robin founded the Sikkim Institute for Holistic Healing to address health disparities in her community. She emphasized the need for innovative approaches to tackle the ongoing issues in healthcare, particularly for marginalized populations. This is a powerful reminder that we must think outside the box and advocate for change in our systems. Whether through entrepreneurship or community initiatives, we all have a role to play in driving progress. I encourage you to listen to this episode and reflect on how these takeaways can apply to your life and work. Let's continue to support one another in our journeys and strive for a healthier, more inclusive future. 🎧 Tune in now and join the conversation! https://lnkd.in/gNueHt94 #UnderdawgTalk #MentalHealth #CommunityHealth #Innovation #Empowerment #Podcast

One of the hardest things as a parent is seeing your child hurting. While you can’t prevent your kids from being hurt, you can help them through it. *How you respond can help them heal or add to their pain.* There are several common ways children may experience trauma. Kids experience trauma when events cause intense feelings of fear, helplessness, or horror. With the widespread availability of internet access, children may see explicit content online. This can be distressing, leading to confusion and potential trauma as they struggle to understand and process it. Academic performance is another area where the effects of trauma can appear. *HOW CAN YOU HELP YOUR KIDS COPE WITH TRAUMA?* First and foremost, create a safe and nurturing environment for your kids. This involves maintaining open communication, actively listening to your child's concerns, and validating their feelings. By doing so, you build trust and help your child feel more comfortable discussing their experiences. Providing reassurance and stability helps your child feel secure and supported. If your child continues to struggle with the effects of trauma despite your support, seek professional help. Signs that you should consider seeking professional help include persistent emotional or behavioral issues, self-harming behaviors, or an inability to function in daily life. *Leave a ❣️ if you agree with me.* Book my One on One session 👉🏻 https://lnkd.in/dXghhE6C #parenttips #emotionsmatters #emotionalwellbeing #emotionalhealth #emotions #parenthood #jyotisinghparentcoach #inspiringlivesbyjyotisingh #enlightenedparentinghub #parenting #parentingtips #parentlifehack #linkedinparents #linkedinparenting
