With the Environment Agency's update of the national flood and coastal erosion risk assessment showing 6.3 million properties in England are in areas at risk of flooding from rivers, the sea or surface water it’s great timing for a new BeFloodReady blog from Alan Ryan from the @RAIN project. This insightful blog explores how we can move beyond resistance to build truly flood-resilient communities - where preparedness, resistance, and recoverability work together. From practical steps for property owners to smarter choices during construction, it highlights strategies that reduce disruption, recover and rebuild better. It's a useful read for anyone passionate about creating resilient homes, businesses, and communities in the face of rising flood risk. 👀 Read the blog here: https://lnkd.in/evXhUhz2 👉 Sign up to the BeFloodReady Community of Practice here: https://lnkd.in/eQv2Cc2t 📽️ To see the BeFloodReady webinar that the blog emanates from visit here: https://lnkd.in/esdnVkRv

2wYes, 6.3 million at greatest risk. As usual EA don’t emphasise that EVERY property is at finite risk of surface water flooding. Property drainage usually designed for 1 in 30 year events AT THE TIME of design. Older properties more at risk from onsite overload of these systems as the climate changes.
