I recently had a bit of a strange experience with a large online retailer, and I’m curious if anyone else has gone through something similar. 🤔 So, I placed an order that was just under $200, and everything seemed fine until the next day when I received an unexpected cold call from the company. They asked me to verify my credit card details over the phone. Now, this raised a giant red flag for me! 🚩 I instinctively said no to sharing my card information over the phone. It felt suspicious, right? Instead, I got an email from them asking for a screenshot of the transaction on my statement to confirm that it actually went through. I provided the screenshot, but made sure to blackout my sensitive info. Despite that, they rejected my proof and insisted on a phone call to verbally confirm my card details.
