It will be good finally to get to Sicily for half-term on Saturday. It has been an uncomfortable experience in very difficult circumstances trying hard to transform West Midlands Fire Service on behalf of its superb people, not least working to a Chair who was untruthful to me from the outset. It is astonishing to allege that you served in 45 Commando when you did not and nor did you complete Royal Marines training. Yet, amongst other references, he asked when I began to serve in 45 to ensure there was no overlap and therefore potential conflict of interest. It has been odd to report to an Authority wholly incapable - both in terms of capability and interest - of overseeing the organisation it carries responsibility for. It has been troubling to try and breathe life and hope into a scared and cowed Service, which believes its leaders are selfish and for themselves. As a matter of fact, this is not leadership. It is immensely sad to see two people of the quality of Chris P. and Carolyn Symcox resign over this ‘corruption’ - their word not mine. They were a big proportion of the answer for the organisation ahead. It is strange to see an organisation paid for by public money being largely run by its Monitoring Officer, who very selectively monitors to cover his own tracks, and who similarly obtains partial external legal advice based solely on his own input. It is a weird idea that the senior leader would or should stay silent in such circumstances, but it is a very prevalent idea. ‘Had we spoken out, we would have paid a big price.’ The exact (and awful) problem. It is a bizarre idea that people should not come first, even more so when you consider that vital operational delivery relies on them. What a great shame. It will be excellent to get to Sicily. #leadership #courage #people

It's been a challenging year for many teams. Tight resources and big expectations are common themes. As we close out 2024, there's an opportunity to recognise the great work that you and/or your team have done. Amanda Williamson gives a great example of how. Recognition like this achieves several outcomes. A sense of progress, pride and achievement. A focus on what our 'best' looks like. A injection of momentum to span the break. A punctuation point that sets people up to rest properly in their down time. It does have to be public recognition like Amanda has done, but definitely find a way to weave it in before you break. What other benefits do you think would result?
Pleased to share the below clip where I attempt to recite 13th Brigades 2024 achievements in under 90 seconds (spoiler alert; I fail miserably!)🫡🫡🪖🪖

Here's the constitutional truth & mandate. Know who you're voting for as their values may not be yours. Hire tough and respectable leaders in all the military to recruit candidates. How do foreign give-aways weaken America?© by +Dr. Jonathan, Founder & CEO What happens when our Fed govt gives away hard earned tax dollars from our citizens to foreign nations (far more than 250 Billion dollars) like Ukraine (Iran & Taiwan), etc. that exponentially add debt (short-term 36 trillion & long term 350 trillion from Social Security retirement funds)to US ledgers causing massive hyperinflation, uncertainty & national chaos? The answer is loss of the dollar as world currency champion that will undermine every measurable aspect of our liberty, lives & economy, including but not limited to renewables. As a contributor to Forbes, a classic & leading business magazine, the causality of such dire consequences for unaccountable, irresponsible give-aways that Bidenomics pursued for 45 months must never happen again.© May God impel us to pay off our total debts & be subject to no rulers or masters. Captain Hung Cao made some pretty intense comments in a recent debate. “When you're using a drag queen...to recruit for the Navy, that's not the people we need. What we need is alpha males and alpha females who are going to rip out their own guts, eat them and ask for seconds." Love this man. REPOST and amplify his voice. And if anyone knows him... tell him to have his lousy PR team actually respond to their emails so we can help promote him."

This is a great IG post from an active duty Navy officer. I know some people shy away from my posts calling out the Coast Guard for their culture, the cover-ups of sexual assault and harassment investigations, toxic climates, toxic bosses, retaliation, ostracism and other behaviors that aren’t in alignment with the Service’s core values. I don’t post these things because I don’t like the Coast Guard. I post these things because I LOVE the Coast Guard. It’s 2024 and things need to change - immediately. Recruiting and retention numbers won’t improve in our Service until we get this right. The number of stories I hear every week are embarrassing. Too many senior “leaders” are either creating this, turning their heads away from this, or actively covering for their peers and people they want to continue to rise.
