🚀 One week to go until the third edition of the Cities Mission Conference 'Empowering Cities - the Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission in Action'! The conference will take a deep dive into the remarkable progress from #MissionCities over the last year as well as delve into the challenges and opportunities as we continue to journey towards climate neutrality! Mission City mayors, deputy mayors, and practitioners will connect with the European Commission, representatives of national and regional authorities, NetZeroCitiesEU partners and other actors to forge collaborations and engage on Mission-critical concepts and groundbreaking ideas 🤝 The 2024 edition will be held in the framework of Valencia Cities Climate Week in #EUGreenCapital Valencia. The Valencia Cities Climate Week encompasses several key events alongside the Cities Mission Conference, in particular the European Urban Resilience Forum 2024 (#EURESFO24) and Energy Cities’ Annual Forum (#GraftingCities2024). 💚 We look forward to next week which will be an exciting and unique opportunity to create synergies and promote urban sustainability, as well as to find common solutions to achieve climate neutrality and resilience. 🚀 Exciting news for the EU Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities! 48 #MissionCities are set to receive €22.6 million through the Enabling City Transformation Programme, strengthening their efforts to achieve climate neutrality. ERRIN is pleased to see that 32 of these successful Mission Cities are from #ERRINmembers regions 🌍   Over the course of 18 months, these cities, through the 26 successful projects, will tackle systemic challenges and explore innovative solutions to scale up the implementation of their Climate City Contracts. 👏 The #HorizonEU project SUN4Ukraine, part of the EU Cities Mission, has just announced the 12 Ukrainian Flagship Municipalities selected to receive support on their journey to climate neutrality by 2050. Congratulations to Chernihiv, Chernivtsi, Dnipro, Kalush, Kharkiv, Konotop, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Novovolynsk, Pervomaisk, Vinnytsia, and Zviahel!   These cities are embarking on a transformative journey towards climate-neutral rebuilding. 🔖 The European Commission has awarded its ‘Mission Label’ to 23 cities participating in the NetZeroCities programme, marking a significant achievement in the Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission. The Mission Label is the European Commission’s recognition of cities’ successful development of their Climate City Contracts which outline the overall vision for climate neutrality and contains an action plan as well as an investment strategy. The awarded cities join another ten awardees who received the first labels in October 2023. Led by EIT Climate-KIC, NetZeroCitiesEU is an integral component of the EU Mission for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities, which falls under the umbrella of Horizon Europe. This initiative equips European cities with a diverse array of tools aimed at facilitating their transition towards neutrality. 🤝The third annual Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission conference is set to take place in Valencia on 25 - 26 June. This prestigious event, hosted by the European Commission and NetZeroCitiesEU will bring together Mission City mayors, practitioners, and representatives from national and regional authorities to connect and engage on Mission-critical concepts and ideas. 🏙️ The 2024 edition, titled ‘Empowering Cities – the Climate Neutral and #SmartCities Mission in Action,’ will be an invitation-only gathering organised by the European Commission and the Mission Platform. Political representatives and practitioners from the 112 Mission Cities will come together to celebrate the Mission’s progress, share valuable insights and experiences, and find inspiration in each other’s achievements. 2️⃣ new projects have launched under #HorizonEU: SUN4Ukraine (Sustainable Urban Net Zero Network for Ukraine), coordinated by Eurocities and #U_CAN (Ukraine towards Carbon Neutrality), coordinated by Technische Universität Dresden!
