Many IBS patients are caught in two vicious cycles: One of repetitive (and often unfruitful) medical evaluation, and one of chronic pain, depression, and anxiety. Patients might get a referral to a specialist, or find a short-term solution for their symptoms, but ultimately end up repeating the same cycles over and over again. So how can patients break these cycles, and how can physicians help? It starts with addressing the root cause(s) of symptoms. By addressing these underlying factors and building a holistic approach to physical and mental health, patients and physicians can work together toward long-term solutions. 🌍 World Psoriasis Day 2024: Let's Raise Awareness, Promote Compassion, and Drive Change 🌍 Today, on #WorldPsoriasisDay, we stand together with millions worldwide living with psoriasis, an often misunderstood autoimmune disease that affects both physical health and emotional well-being. This year’s theme—"Breaking Barriers to Access to Care"—reminds us of the urgent need to increase accessibility, empathy, and support for those battling this condition daily. Psoriasis is not just a skin condition; it’s a complex disease that can lead to physical discomfort, social stigma, and mental health struggles. Studies show that over 125 million people globally live with psoriasis, and in many regions, the stigma and misconceptions surrounding the condition are as challenging as the disease itself. Yet, with better understanding, education, and support, we can change this narrative. At ATG HealthCare Foundation, we are committed to raising awareness on critical health issues and advocating for better healthcare access. We encourage everyone to: 🔹 Educate yourself and others—understand that psoriasis is not contagious and is a manageable, treatable condition. 🔹 Support those affected by psoriasis—compassion and understanding go a long way. 🔹 Advocate for equitable healthcare—everyone deserves access to the right treatments and care, regardless of their circumstances. Let's join forces to break the barriers surrounding #Psoriasis and help create a world where individuals can live with dignity and without discrimination. Together, we can make a meaningful difference! #PsoriasisAwareness #WorldPsoriasisDay2024 #ATGHealthCareFoundation #HealthcareForAll #CompassionInHealthcare

Last week we joined forces with Natalie Benamou, MBA and HER HEALTHX to talk about women’s heart health. Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year. We need more conversation — not everyone knows that or what it means for them. This episode combines patient stories and medical expertise. Here are some takeaways: Medical gaslighting can happen. This happens when you aren’t heard or your concerns/symptoms are dismissed. Saraa Basaria encouraged everyone to, “trust your instincts and push for thorough examinations." We also need to take control of our own heath. Patty Jassak, MS, RN, CHCP, FACEhp shared how her brother’s heart condition led to her finding out more about her own heart health. “My brother's experience was a wake-up call for me. It made me realize how crucial it is to be vigilant about our heart health." We can (and should) make changes to how we deliver cardiac care. Simin Gharib Lee shared how Systole Health offers women group visits combined with nutrition and 1:1 breakouts with physicians. She said, “these visits allow for a more interactive and comprehensive approach to care, where patients can ask questions, receive immediate feedback, and gain a deeper understanding of their health conditions.” If you missed it, you can watch the replay here: https://lnkd.in/ems2RGNP #womenshealth

🎯 5 Minutes of Anger Can Suppress the Immune System for 5 Hours! 🌟 When anger strikes, our bodies shift focus from maintaining a strong immune system to preparing for fight or flight. This shutdown response is nature’s way of prioritizing survival, but it comes at a cost. According to Rein and McCraty’s 1995 study on compassion and anger in the Journal of Advancement in Medicine, prolonged anger can have lasting effects on our health. Dr. Gabor Maté, in his book When the Body Says No, emphasizes that an inability to express emotions, especially anger, is a significant risk factor for diseases like cancer. Expressing anger in a healthy way is essential for optimal physical health, emotional and spiritual health. Our team of therapists have worked with 1,000’s of people on this. Join “My Men’s Group” online through the homepage of our website. See bio for that. It’s free for the first four weeks and then $10/month. The group includes free sessions that can be truly transformative. Our online groups start every four weeks. Our team of skilled therapists offers individual and couple sessions online, worldwide.
