Here are the highlights from the article: Updated Interest Rate Forecasts: The Federal Reserve is expected to conclude 2024 with a federal funds target range of 4.50–4.75%, suggesting three quarter-point rate cuts. For 2025, the target range is expected to be 3.50–3.75% after four additional quarter-point cuts. The 10-year Treasury yield is projected to be 3.75% for both year-end 2024 and 2025. Shift in Fed Focus: The Federal Reserve appears to be shifting its focus from inflation to concerns about economic slowing and employment. Recent weak economic data, such as lower job creation and rising unemployment, supports the case for faster rate cuts. Dovish Tone from the Fed: The Fed kept rates unchanged after its August 1 meeting but indicated a potential rate cut as early as September. The Fed is likely to implement further rate reductions throughout 2024 and 2025.
