#society #economics #nobelprize The storied, blue chip management consulting firm McKinsey & Company is laying off hundreds of employees as client demand is slowing, despite a booming economy https://lnkd.in/eGr7bW-c. America’s blue chip services firms in health, economics, finance, management, venture capital, accounting, legal, and technology which charge their clients in millions of dollars because of their brand premium even for very short engagements spanning about 1-3 months for a consultant team of about 4-6, and pay very high salaries and bonuses to those with graduate degrees and PhDs in a variety of disciplines from the top universities of the world in an 80% services economy are finding themselves in a new world: the brand premium of their workers along with the brand premium of their degrees is vanishing because - 1. The people nor workers no longer care about notions such as social status and prestige normally associated with brands. They are no longer willing to pay the brand premium. Many agencies of the United States government from defense and intelligence to the Federal Reserve and international organizations such as the United Nations, International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank Group project “credibility” by employing graduates whose degrees possess the brand premium such as from the top ranked universities of the world, and so do America’s large global corporations, all of whom are members of a secret society or some other closed group providing club goods to their members from Yale University’s Skull and Bones Society which founded the CIA to invitees to secret meetings of the Bohemian Grove, Belizean Grove, Bilderberg Group, Trilateral Commission, World Economic Forum, and the new world.minds group of self-selected elites. The world’s people no longer see utility in them. Brand is no longer is correlated to quality as in what I call the ‘social utility’, a concept not taught in universities, of a corporation or government and education, but is highly correlated to enhancing the wealth and power of the few in society. 2. The Marginal cost of Production (MCP) which is the increase in production costs that results from producing additional units of a product, is highly fuzzy in a services economy. What is the MCP of any service? Is a consultant or a lawyer or a doctor or accountant billed at a rate of at least several hundred dollars an hour to thousands of dollars, and varying from firm to firm, worth the marginal price of the services they provide or is it the lock-in increasing returns of packaged brand premium by dishonest marketing? It is the latter that is rendering them unworthy of the former, wage premium, and associated status, prestige, and rank elitism because they are disconnected from a majority of the societies they are a part of. Technology is producing intense anxiety among the blue chip services class.
#sustainability #nobelprize I am getting from Indeed referrals of overqualified, underemployed individuals with MBAs, law degrees, medical degrees, and PhDs in a variety of disciplines from the best universities to be my intern and research assistant, worried about the future https://lnkd.in/e9EwMuj4. Soon McKinsey consultants will be lining up. Both weekend humor and the sad reality of our education system and economy which have lost sight of what is important in life https://lnkd.in/e9Q9Yx-B.

We asked Professor Anwesha Sarkar from University of Leeds about her experience of her research article on the texture of chocolate making mainstream news worldwide. Here's what she said: "If confident with their data and reproducibility, scientists should talk to general audience through different channels, whether through social media or elsewhere. It is important to talk about robust science backed up by evidence with people, as this is how we can progress.” To read the full interview and learn more about Professor Sarkar's experience and the advice she has for students and early career researchers, click the following link - https://hubs.li/Q02tzCcG0

How to build a successful medical practice: 1. Humility about what you don’t know and the skills you need to develop. A medical degree does not confer any business skills. 2. You need a skilled operations manager. Seek someone with strong interpersonal skills and objectivity. 3. Be prepared to spend a significant amount of time learning, reading, and developing both “soft skills” and “hard skills.” 4. Soft skills make up 90% of your leadership skills, with emotional intelligence (EQ) and #empathy being the most important. 5. Take the time to learn accounting, finance and #strategy. I found my MBA at W. P. Carey School of Business – Arizona State University extremely valuable. 6. Stay grounded and avoid the trap of narcissism. #medicine #ophthalmology #retina #optometry

I recently watched an episode of the Lessons in Chemistry series, based on Bonnie Garmus’s novel, and it struck a powerful chord. The scene brought to light a troubling aspect of academic life: the influence of personal biases on recommendation letters and the devastating impact they can have on careers. In academia, I am aware of instances where individuals were threatened with “career-destroying” recommendation letters if they didn’t conform to certain expectations or office politics. I know of a postdoctoral researcher whose academic future was derailed by a vengeful supervisor—a PI he had only worked with for six months—whose negative recommendation closed doors in a heartbeat. It’s time to question why the future of talented individuals often hinges on the opinions of a few, rather than on fair and transparent systems. We need mechanisms that uphold the integrity of evaluations, ensuring they reflect genuine performance and potential rather than personal vendettas. Imagine a system where reviews are balanced, standardized, and moderated. Where accomplishments and potential speak louder than interpersonal politics. We owe it to the future of research and academia to champion reforms that foster growth and opportunity—not fear and suppression. #Academia #ProfessionalIntegrity #LessonsInChemistry #CareerGrowth #AcademicReform

For those of you considering getting a doctorate degree... DO IT!! Similar to law school, doctoral studies change the way you view and interpret information, which is a good thing!! For me, from my small little seat at the table, I was able to create a comprehensive, data-driven, innovative, and EI focused recruiting program, rooted in customer success ideology that leverages technology for my company!! My doctoral research on EI in hiring is paying dividends in helping me to make our hiring approaches more strategic and innovative. (No I'm not just saying that becuase my DBA focus was strategy and innovation) We've already received wonderful feedback from these implementations and I'm EXTREMELY excited to see what new heights I can achieve next year! #capellagrad #dba #doctor #doctoralstudies #emotionalintelligence #talentacquisition #innovation #strategy #recruitmentplan #betterhiring #ididitbymyself #drflores #momwouldbeproud #sisepuede #jefamode #nextlevel #talentwhisperer #recruitmentexpert #customersuccess #smartgirlsgetstuffdone #askanerdtodoit

Experience and Skills vs. Academic Degrees: Discussions occasionally arise about the growing trend in the labour market toward valuing practical experience and skills over academic qualifications. This shift is more noticeable in certain fields than others. In regulated professions, such as law, medicine, and engineering, one cannot practice without an accredited academic degree. However, in areas related to public affairs, such as journalism, decision-making support through analytical reports, think tanks, and the broader third sector, there is a growing emphasis on practical experience and skills. Of course, university degrees still hold importance, and the ideal scenario is to combine both qualifications and experience. However, in some fields, practical experience and acquired skills have begun to outweigh formal education, as seen in journalism. #skills #education
