I struggled with substance use for 16 years before getting sober in August of 2016 nearing 8 years ago.
What I didn’t know was why I was using external means to change an internal feeling or that I was even doing that to begin with.
I spent time in the corrections system and years on probation with my every breath being monitored. I knew in my heart I cared more than my results showed but I wasn’t aware there was another way.
You see, since youth our minds have been soaking up information from the external world.
Our caregivers, educators, and influencers, (healthy or not), have shaped our view of ourselves and the world.
Throughout my 16 year progression of drug induced benders I nearly lost my life on several occasions.
In 2016 I was faced with losing everything I worked hard for which provided “a moment of clarity”, a choice point rather to life or to risk my sanity and...
…I chose to live.
After quitting substances I soon realized through treatment, therapy, and listening to others stories that my belief system was based on survival and trauma which was completely distorting my view of myself.
This was why I was chasing people, places, and things to feel “better” than how I felt day in and day out.
Today I stand before you a transformed woman self aware of my thoughts, able to manage my responses to them, clear on my purpose here, clear on my values, and clear that I am the designer of my life.
There is Hope and a better life through recovery.
I want you to view Recovery as a mindset shift vs a failed attempt at taking care of yourself.
When you do anything new in life your mind is transformed to perform thag job, career, or start that new relationship.
Recovery is no different. It’s a mindset that provides what I call “a mental bridge” opening your mind up to new concepts and perspectives you had never considered ultimately providing you with new options in the decisions you have in life which results in a new outcome that benefits you vs harms.
LIFE IS NOW🔥
If you’re considering this life changing decision reach out and take the first step towards a better life!
I believe in YOU 💪🏽
